    Potential but Unprofessional

I have been eating at JivamukTea for a few years now, I have felt grateful to have a convenient place where I can have healthy delicious vegan food in a relaxed atmosphere. However, the last couple of months I have been often disappointed--the quality seems to constantly vary--sometimes the food seems has it has been thrown together (the people making it more interested in their own conversations than on the food they're making). This last time I went, my sandwich was falling apart it barely had any of the pesto. And the LOVE smoothly I ordered also didn't taste right... when I checked there were 4 whole dates that were never blended. When I mentioned it in a very nice way, the person took it back and blended it but didn't say anything to me or even look at me -- just felt unfriendly. I would like to say that some of the people are very friendly, and that anyone can have a bad day. But overall, my recent experiences have been unprofessional--when i order some of what have been my favorite dishes I'm not really sure what to expect. I keep hoping it's just a phase...

    Unprofessional chef, uninspired food.

I have been going to the Jivamuktea Cafe every Thursday for several months now. I order the same thing every week. This week, my food was extremely bland and unappetizing. I decided to send it back and change my order. I was polite and kind with the cashier (he is brand new). He was understanding and accomodating, which I appreciated greatly. When I picked up my new order from the counter, the chef shot me a dirty look. It is essential for all businesses to be open to constructive criticism from regular customers. I was completely turned off by this most recent experience. I will never go back to Jivamuktea.

Good Snack like food bad Service

Usually, I do not like saying anything bad, but hopefully they will improve. This place offers quick simple snack/lunch dishes and treats. I think they are good with what they offer. Now on to the bad part..... For what they do offer, it's greatly overpriced and their service is super slow. It's slow like they don't realize they are in NYC slow. I understand the yoga vibe and all, but they are ridiculous with the slowness, and they do not care. I have very short breaks at work. Bottom line, I was going to them for convenience, but now that peacefoods is open I will be going there. They offer more and they are fast and very accomodating. hope you improve bc I can get over the prices, but slow and bad service I cannot!

    Disagree with negative comments

I've been eating here occasionally for the last year or so, and have never encountered anything but friendliness and helpfulness from the staff. I also find the atmosphere very pleasant and soothing. People seem free to linger there, working on computers, etc., in a very unpressured environment. I'm a bit of a one -trick pony when it comes to food orders, tending to stick with old reliables, because I like them so much. My main problem with the cafe is that it can be a bit pricey, but given the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the atmosphere, not enough to dissuade me from happily coming back.

    Amazing

Best Vegan food in the city, highly recommend! The staff is wonderful, lots of options from sandwiches, wraps, burritos, toasts, salads, create your own meal, smoothies, teas, coffees, and baked goods! Beautiful environment too great for hanging out or working on the laptop. And before you eat go take a yoga class at Jivamukti Yoga School! It will change your life.

ADORE this place! Best in NYC!

I love Jivamuktea cafe!! I may eat here to much!! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is to die for!! I have no idea what they do to it but it is healthy and addictive!! The Yogis Choice with rosemary seitan, coleslaw, and quinoa is my absolute favorite thing to get.. That of course with one of their delicious Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Green Coconut Tea.! I LOVE LOVE this place can't say enough great things about it.. EAT HERE!!

    Unpleasantly Surprised

I'm really stunned by the reviews here. I ate here for the first time two days ago, and the service was great but the food was definitely below average. The people at the counter and the cook were very pleasant and helpful but the food was so basic and boring I could have just eaten at home. Honestly you can get a better vegan sandwich down the street at Le Pain Quotidien. Plus the red velvet cupcake tasted like it came out of a box. Non vegans, please don't judge all vegan food based on this place. The only reason to eat here is because you've just finished a yoga class and you're too tired to go somewhere else.
