Perfect local spot with top quality

Japanese is my favourite cuisine. I have lived in Beijing, Paris, Vancouver, Boston, DC and NYC and have not come across any other neighbourhood Japanese restaurant with the food and atmosphere of Jin - they are superior in both. It is the first place I take my out of town guests to and the first place I suggest for meals out with friends. The J22 roll, Jin and Tuna Amazing roll are my favourites, the sashimi is excellent and each presentation a work of art.

Sad because no more 50% off nights!

One of my favorites spots in my neighborhood. But I'm sad because no more 50% off nights! I think that was an amazing idea but now I'll be there just for lunch then!

    Mediocre sushi mill

Reviews here are clearly padded by the restaurant. This is just a mediocre sushi mill with decent decor. Good for rolls and delivery, but otherwise unremarkable.

    Date Night made Wonderful

I came here with my girlfriend for our usual "date night" on one Sunday night. It was our first time here and we were very impressed. Although the place was nearly empty, there was one other - very silent - couple in the restaurant at the same time as us. The atmosphere and background music were exceptional. The service was impeccable and we did not have to wait long for our food at all. The price was average but for good food and atmosphere you cannot expect the cheapest of the cheap! All in all, we were both very pleased with Jin and recommend it to any couple or persons looking for an intimate meal.

    Excellent service

I'm picky about sushi as well and so far I've found most of the rolls I've tried to be a little above average - not the best I've ever had but very very far from the worst. The sashimi I had was absolutely amazing though. I've eaten sushi throughout various places in the world and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to people looking for a nice dinner in a cozy atmosphere w/excellent service.

    great find!

My boyfriend and I discovered this place the other day and now we're both certain it will be one of our new favourite spots! The restaurant is very beautiful and has a nice vibe, the prices are reasonable, the food is fantastic (we've gone through some sushi places, and we're pretty picky...), and above all - the service is excellent. Everywhere we looked, we got friendly smiles and quick service, and even though the kitchen had closed, the chef was happy to bring us one more round of sushi... We will definitely be back!

sad sushi, only go if you live in LES

...and you're lazy. I have no idea why some people are liking this place. It's never packed (for a reason), it's hardly filled with Asian customers (the hallmark of a truly good sushi place), and I can tell you that after eating good, real sushi all over Asia, CA, and NY, this place is so disappointingly bad. The quality of fish is similar to the Korean-owned sushi places which focus more on value. Except here, the prices don't even justify the meal! If you are looking for super fresh, grade A tuna, you are better off heading to the East Village's "little tokyo" for authentic, tasty, tender fish. If you must eat at Jin, you might as well just order a bento box or noodle dish. Nothing raw.
