New Owners = Same Price for Less

I have been going to the Jin Market- or whatever it is called now- for months. All of a sudden new owners take over, and their salad prices have remained the same and my container is now half filled. I will NOT be going back- and I will make it my point to tell people not to go.

    A great deli/market in Tribeca

Despite the fact it is a bit of a walk, I have always been a fan of Jin Market. Not too long ago, they revamped and upgraded the market by adding a brick oven pizza station, a bi bim bop station and a full "create your own salad" station. The salads are good. The ingredients are fresh. You can choose from grilled or breaded chicken, to ahi tuna to accompany your choice of greens and other veggies you ask for. The one pitfall you need to be careful of. Keep a watchful eye with all the ingredients you add to your salad. Next thing you know, the damn container weighs 22 lbs. and you spend your whole paycheck on it. Their pizza is pretty good and you usually have a wide selection to choose from: mushroom, caprese, prosciutto ham, veggies, you name it. The crust is thin and the red sauce quite good - a little on the sweet side. One item that gets lost amongst the choices of fare is the dumplings. They will make steamed or seared dumplings for you. Unfortunately, the dumplings are lost between Mr. Pizza, Lady bi bim bop and the crazy Latin guys tossing salads. Their dumplings are most toothsome. I recommend you call ahead and place an order. For some reason, they take forever and you end up waiting a while in line risking getting crushed by a hoard of hungry patrons reminiscent of The Who concert stampede of 1979. If you have the time and need to get out from behind your desk, take a little jaunt over to Jin Market and pick up your lunch there.
