Saturday or Sunday stopovers here at Melons are a weekly delight. The burgers are by far better then the Corner Bistro's burgers (although they are nothing to balk at). Order them rare, and for guys, get two. The burger itself is rich in flavor, I add nothing at all, not even ketchup. It is perfect for nursing a hangover too. Accompany your burgers with a "bloody bull" which adds beef broth to a bloody mary and you are right back on the horse. Atmosphere is a little stuffy, but then again the entire neighboorhood is too. Arrive at a decent time if you expect to make the waiting list (normally a 20 minute wait on the weekends) or sit at the bar and watch the game.

I saw this place listed among GQ's best burger joints in America, and as it was in my neighborhood, I went over to check it out. The burgers indeed are good, but the place is dark, and as the air is permeated with grease, you get the feeling that the darkness may be obscuring something. Also, no platters -- so those fries will cost you extra, so the tab gets a little pricey for a greasy spoon. And to top it off our waitress was on the surly side, too. I'll be looking for great burgers elsewhere.

Awesome burger! The turkey burger is the best I've ever had! Love the bacon and the french fries. Usually a wait even at lunch time and sometimes the host is a bit rude, but believe me, the burgers are worth tolerating any attitude you might get.

Simply the best burger on the Upper East side! Bacon could use improving. Great outside seating during the summer!

J.G.M. came highly recommended - unsure why! My friend ordered the infamous burger and was not impressed by how small it was! Guys - order two! I opted for the grilled chicken sandwich which was greasy and not worth the money. The fries were yummy however. Not sure what all the hype is about.

First the plus... this is the best burger in NYC. Melon is also crowded and overpriced, with mediocre service and very small portions. But man is that burger good.

I see there are some complaints about the prices and portion sizes at melon's, but one thing cannot be disputed - they have one of the best burgers in New York City. Melon's is an Upper East side staple. Its preppy, yuppy et. al. but it's in the middle of one of the richest neighborhoods in the world. It is the rich person's burger joint. But it's enjoyable no matter who you are, and it's def worth it. So go in with the right expectations, and you wil never be disappointed here.
