Jezebel pretty much lives up to the hype. The ambiance is a mix of luxury and kitsch. The service (including the as-scantily-dressed-as-they-come-in-a-kosher-facility hostesses) was as good as you will find at any kosher restaurant (let's hope this is not just a temporary condition during the first few opening weeks). The food was at the level of other top NYC kosher restaurants. Being a non-meat eater, I started with the red snapper crudo, followed by the arctic char. Both were well-prepared and delicious, as was a corn succotash. Others at our table had the orange-glazed duck breast (a difficult dish to perfect) and were generally pleased. The duck fat potatoes also went over well, and everyone was blown away by the peanut butter bar dessert. My only reservation is the price. While I'm willing to pay for a nice night out, establishments like this appear to be oblivious to the economic realities of our times. With appetizers at around $20 and mains in the mid $40s, unless you are among the upper tier of the 1% class itself, this is the the type of place that you reserve only for special occasions. but still worth the visit, if only to say you've been there.
