I used to love Jesse's. Especially dining outside. Food/price was just right. Then: prices went way up and food quality went down--some dishes were like reheated frozen food. Upsetting for a neighborhood restaurant that everyone wants!

time for a change
Jesse's has really gone down hill. They used to be good value in their food. The prices have changed and are way too high for the quality of the food. The bartenders are inexperienced . The staff is always changing. Jesse's not the place to go anymore.

$18 for take-out chicken and noodles -- really?
It wasn't even worth complaining to management. They'll never get my business again.

Best in hood, but that ain't saying much
Good service, the waiters are generally very pleasant, competent, polite and quick. I really like the atmosphere and the feel of the place, but the food is mediocre. Maybe it is just because there are so few options in the area I've been there too often, but I can't describe how much I almost dislike the prospect of a $60 dinner for my girlfriend and I to have 2 entrees and 2 drinks. There is so little competition, I can't see anything changing anytime soon, which is a shame for local residents like myself who enjoy dining out and don't mind paying a few bucks for good food. But the food quality and options are on par with a average diner, at best. But again, everything is great about the place. I know, very mixed review ... go, enjoy the atmosphere and friendly people, order the simplest item and have very low food expectations. You won't be terribly disappointed.

No, it's really not that bad!
I've lived in the heights for over three years now, and I think this neighborhood NEEDS Jesse's Place. The pickins' are slim up here, and I think Jesse's is a pretty solid standby. I eat there 1-2 times a month (give or take) and I'm almost always pleased. I recommend the champignon pizza or the kebabs. It's hard to go wrong with said choices. Great cosmos too. This isn't Per Se or some other 28-29 Zagat rated restaurant, but I like it! I'm a loyal customer!

Neighborhood's Booming - Where's Eats?
Sure, Jesse's can be Jesse's at $8 an entree, but at the prices they're charging wow...the quality of the food that comes out of the kitchen is nowhere near commensurate with the cost. They know they don't have to improve anything just yet. Not until someone figures out that plenty of area residents in The Heights enjoy dining out and eating quality food and having options and that we'd appreciate not having to travel underground to get a decent bite to eat. 'Til then, good ole Jesse's is safe. On the up, service is generally pretty good and the Sunday night bartender (guy) makes a stellar margarita. Come fed and drink up. That's $$$ well-spent.

Poor experience
OK. I read the reviews here and thought a no-pretense night would be delightful. Jesse's did not deliver. I expected a pub with standard dishes and what I was delivered was a lot of reheated frozen food. My service was fair and the food was not good
