Well...the waiter was nice
I was very disappointed with my Jekyll and Hyde experience. Why would a restaurant in midtown not take visa/mastercard? The puppets/robotics were cute, but not worth the $40.00 a plate the bill averaged out to. The food was mediocre. Jersey diner food is just a bit better. I was more impressed with the customer service than anything else. Diner at medival times probably costs the same and is more entertaining. I won't be going back :(

Good Food and Atmosphere Poor Service
I took my sons there for one of my son's birthday. Two of them had spoken highly of the restaurant since they had been there before with friends. We were a party of 5 and they gave us a new waiter. He was very inexperienced and it took 45 minutes just to get our drinks. When they came he forgot one and it took another 15 minutes for him to return with it. Another waiter came and took our order and was apologetic. The appetizer and the main course came together after another hour. The waiter never came back to refill our drinks. It took 25 minutes just to get our check. I told the manager that the waiter did not earn or deserve his 18% gratituty. So he took it off and said I could leave him what I thought he deserved. Needless to say he did not get much. The charge for entertainment is not as much in Greenwich Village as it is in midtown. The entertainment was great and they made a big deal because it was my son's birthday. The food was also good and tasty. Yes it is expensive and they tell you up front of the charges for the souvenior cups. They also only accept American Express or cash only. This I did not know. When I went to their ATM they ran out of money. I just made paying the bill. I would not personally recommend this restaurant nor will I be going back.

Not recommended
Its a pricey restaurant that adds a cover charge and does not accept credit cards. They only tell you that after you've been seated, and point you to the ATM machine downstairs. Which of course has a hefty service fee. The entrance is much better than what you see inside. Its dark and dingy and that's supposed to be the spooky atmosphere. The entertainment is really lame, and the special effects aren't all that special. You'll spend a MIN of $20pp - and the food is nothing to write home about. 8-9 yr old kids may be fascinated, but there really have to be better theme restaurants in NYC.

Greatest place ever!!! :)
J & H is the most fun and exciting restaurant i have ever been to! This is coming from a 12 year old, but one who has been to many restaurants in NYC. By far this is the best! The food isnt the big shot, but the entertainment is amazing. I would not recommend the hamburger, but the chicken strips w/fries are DA BOMB! The service is phenomenal! Fast w/drinks and okay with the food. At the restaurant, before they take your order they try to sell you this over priced mugs... DO NOT BUY THEM!!! This is one of the best places that i have ever been to! Period. I have been there 5 times and i LoVe it. the soloon is not the best place to eat. The attic by far is the best place to eat b/c the there is umlimited enterainment up there and there is a massive game area on each floor espeically big accept the 2nd floor, the library, which has none. I recommend this restaurant to people who love entertainment, good food, and excellent service, this is the place for you!!!

Waste of Money
I took my kids here thinking it would be a fun experience. I can't believe they have the nerve to charge $2.75 per person "entertainment charge". There was nothing entertaining about this place. It would up costing me an additional $11 on my bill for some lame jokes. The food was mediocre. I've been to the other theme restaurants in NYC (Mars 2112, Planet Hollywood, ESPNS Zone) and they were much better. At least they don't charge for entertainment. The food was WAY overpriced. My son's hamburger didn't even come with pickles. I had to ask the waiter if they had any pickles. Why would a kid want an orange slice on the side instead of pickles??? I would never go back. There are certainly better theme restaurants to waste your money on and this one is by far the worst. Stay away not only because of the overpriced food, and the mediocre entertainment, but because they have the nerve to charge you for what they call entertainment. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. Please take my word for it.

Good for Yahoos and under 10 year olds..
The service at this place was much better 10 years ago when management cared.... I was appalled frankly, Poor service from the front door until my exit. Your wait staff are unprofessional amatures!! (If these are broadway hopefuls god help us all...) Food was horrid and over priced. You call that rust colored leaf salad?? We had to be for dressing. and the popcorn shrimp never came with cocktail sauce... You have the nerve to charge over $12 for this?? Shame on you! You give my city a bad name. The bev's. were over priced and FOUL! Fruit punch???..... Then we got the 3 min. "sell" about your carnival prize glasses... You Stink!! If you got a few 10 year olds, this is the place for you. BUT bend over, they are gonna get you....
