    Yummy french cuisines

Everything was perfect...food and service was unbelievable and probably one of the best French place i ever been to! Nothing fancy smancy about the decor...just a good place to eat and waiters are extremely friendly!

    tasteless fish

Visited for the first and last time in January. Let's start with the wooden tables -- no tablecloths though the photos indicated them and the hardest chairs I've ever endured. Rough around the edges to say the least, for a "modernist" French bistro. Two men at a neighboring table were fervent regulars and suggested the mussels. They would surely have been a vast improvement over the dull atlantic salmon pave "en papillotte." Steamed fish and vegetables were completely flavorless. So if you go, you might be safer with the mussels. To be fair, there were not many dishes sampled, but the two entrees were unremarkable.

    Thank You

Thank you for opening in my neighborhood. I have eaten here several times and have sampled at least half the menu. Everything I've had was at least very good, and often excellent (except for one over-fried "special" crabcake.) Standouts are the crab-and-avocado napoleon, sweetbread tarte, squab, short ribs, and fish. Three courses, lovingly plated, for only $40. Why can't other places do that? The service is pleasant, and there are good, affordable wines by the glass. The only mystery is that Old Masters painting on the wall, but we can live with that.

    Welcome to 14th Street!

What a welcome addition to 14th St. This place is special. It replaced a French bistro, Gravoche, which was a neighborhood favorite. They opened in the space and kept a similar type menu and vibe. Plus they have a fantastic garden in the back! The food is remarkable and priced just right. The staff is very friendly and the noise level is comfortable. This is a great restaurant with a great staff and excellent food. Their soufflé's are worth a visit. Do yourself a favor and try Jeanne & Gaston. You won't be sorry!

    French gem on 14th Street

My husband and I have had several memorable dinners here and are always happy to introduce friends to enjoy this lovely restaurant. It is comfortable chic and offers wonderful food served by attentive, personable waitstaff. The added bonus is the fact that we can choose any (!) appetizer, entree and dessert on the menu for $40. We have already found favorites such as the French pizza appetizer (not sure of the name) and scrumptious dessert souffles but we want to try more because everything is just so tasty. Today, we're bringing a British friend there for lunch...can't wait!

A great addition to the neighborhood!

We have had two dinners at Jeanne & Gaston, both excellent. The three-course $40 prix fixe is a good buy. The restaurant has been redecorated and is very pleasant. The noise level, even when the restaurant is full, is acceptable. Wine prices are reasonable. Food portions are generous without being gross, and the quality is high -- everything we’ve had is delicious. Only the service needs improvement to be truly professional -- especially the helpful busboy who called us “you guys” each time he came over to the table. That didn’t add to the French atmosphere.
