I have been dining here for several years and always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. My last visit was disappointing. Although the food and ambiance, as well as the service, remained top notch, I was not hapy with the welcome. When I made my reservation and asked for a specific table which I got 90% of the time, I was told they had it down but could not guarantee it, which I understood and accepted. When we arrived, that table was empty but we were shown to anoter table, less desirable. I questioned it and the hostess said she would check with the front desk While she was gone, another couple was seated at the table we wanted. I expressed my disappointment and was told they do not guarantee tables, but obviously the other couple was given preference over us. I must say they did try to make up for this by giving us an even better table, but my annoyance and disappointment remain.

I had lunch here and found the food mediocre and the service sub par. The staff seemed unpleasant, starting with the maitre d who was walking around with a foul expression. There was a lot of bad attitude, and I have no idea why. They seem to be going through the motions, but the main course fish dishes (I had the bass and the hake) were truly insipid. I've been to most of the top restaurants in NYC and wouldn't return. There was just nothing special or even particularly good about this.

The 1st, 3rd and 4th course (desert) were perfect, what was far from perfect was the Halibut my 2nd course, way too dry almost chewy. The tuna, lamb and the chocolate desert was great. So if you stay away from the halibut you may get to enjoy a perfect meal! Though, I must add our table was not ready we had to wait 20 minutes, they could have offered us a glass of wine of the house.

Myself and my wife went to Jean Georges for our first anniversary dinner. The ambience was very nice and comfortable. I had the spring tasting menu, and she had the 3 course prix fixe (1st - tuna, 2nd - arctic char, 3rd - maine lobster). All of her dishes were amazing. Mine were also great, except that I'm not a huge caviar fan (that's the only reason I'm rating the food as a 4.5). The most impressive part of the meal was dessert - an amazing spread that focused on chocolate and strawberries. They included a 'happy anniversary' treat. After we finished dessert (totally stuffed at this point), they brought out a plate full of petit fours. These were incredible, and we were only able to eat a few. The waiter then offered to pack these for us (including additional pieces). This was an amazing gesture. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The bill was pricey, but not as much as I would have expected for a top-tier restaurant. The service and food justified everything. I would definitely go back for special occasions.

Had the 3 course meal, have to say there was plenty of food, so good value for money. Service was fine but there seemed to be too many of them on the floor, you feel like you are being watched constantly. That said, the staff did notice I was not eating the rabbit, way too much saffron, stay away. The Tuna was the best. Overall nothing special, they try to be creative and don't seem to succeed. Won't go back.

We had the winter tasting menu. Lots of courses! Food was fresh, but preparation was just ok. It seems like they are trying to be inventive without actually creating delicious dishes. Service excellent and good atmosphere.
