This place has a lot going for it but misses out on its potential. It is a very small place and even when it is very crowded the staff seat themselves at a table when customers are standing looking for a seat and they don't get up. Also, the staff looks unhappy and they make a face if you don't give them a tip when you pour your own coffee; maybe they should serve the coffee so they can get tips. You get the feeling at times like you are just a guest taking up space in their living room. It does have a nice atmosphere but the staff isn't friendly and they could be doing more business if they were.

I love this place and have only been a few times. Great coffee, great cookies, great staff, great owner, great vibe & great music. Pound for pound the best coffee place in NYC hands down.

very small place, small portions, terrible food. A small and i mean really really small salad was 9 dollars.

ive lived in this neighborhood for 4years and never knew about java girl until my friend took me there today we had lunch great grill pressed sandwiches and cappucinos the staff was friendly and welcoming the music made me feel like i was on the champs elysee so the next time my girlfriend wants to take me somewhere new in the neighborhood ill follow her anywhere

This little hole in the wall tries to be a cool hip coffee shop out of Friends. But is is cramped and obvious in trying to be cool. Coffee is the worst I've ever had. Annoying people hanging out. Overall poor place.

Java Girl is the kind of place that people who dream about living in the city imagine city life to be. Great Coffee, hip, funky atmosphere and inviting to all. Locals sit out front smoking , drinking coffee and talking about news of the day. Great world music and good food to boot.

This neighborhood gem is a daily ritual for me. the staff are always incredibly friendly and always remember exactly what my order is going to be. the coffee is great and the atmosphere a welcome respite from the sea of starbucks in this city.
