No better than Chinese take out at double the price
Quality is very similar to Chinese take out. And they have the nerve to charge $8 for green tea!! Would not return.

Specials are desperate attempts
I live a block away and have always thought that for the type of cuisine - Omai meets Republic - it was a little over-priced. They had a drink special and a pre-fixe menu, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The food is ambitious and fails for the most part. It's not terrible, but they should shoot lower and actually sucede. The worst thing though, is the inattentive, uninformed, nasty service. The server actually told me that I should learn to read the menu when I questioned being charged for a drink that should have been 2 for 1. There is a reason this place is usally empty.

how did I miss out?
The one good thing I've learned is when trying out a new restaurant don't order anything that's too expensive and I'm glad I didn't with this one. All of the other reviews have been so positive and I'm left wondering what happened to our dinning experience. Pretty place but our table was in the back right next to the work station so there was a constant clanging of utensils and plates. Service was very polite but slow and erratic. The main dishes we ordered tasted rather ordinary (chicken curry and fried noodles with beef and scallops ) They were like Chinese take out . We also ordered a side of sauteed Bok Choy and overall everything was very salty.(I'm a salt lover and it was too much for me!). So I don't think this will be a place to return to. The bartender did make us one heck of a cocktail though, for drinks I would return!

Love It, Love It, Love It!
This is such a great restaurant. I have to admit I wasn't thrilled that "Raymond's" was closing which had the space before Safran, but I was won over. The space is great and the staff is very helpful. It's a neighborhood place. The bar is fun and if you go alone and just smile, you'll make friends. James and Gal, the bartenders, will make you feel right at home!!

Happy Surpise
Decided to try on a whim after seeing other folks reviews. Not only was the food great, but the portion sizes were very big. The wait staff was attentive. The drinks were unusual, and slightly expensive, but a minor gripe for an otherwise wonderful and suprising Vietnamese meal.

pretty boring brunch
duck wrap was subpar. dim sum option was just OK. perhaps their lunch specials and dinner menu are better....

Excellent food...
We had lunch there 3 days ago. The lunch boxes were simply delicious and very good value for the money. We also had 2 special Safran cocktails which were pretty strong, but also very good. The only thing I regret is that we didn't go there for dinner, because judging from what they offered for lunch, dinner must be awesome.
