Great place
I've been here a few times, and each time is consistently great. The atmosphere is romantic at night, and lively during the day. And I love the special sauce that comes on the burger.

Straightforward excellence
Terrific unfussy food - hard to find in this town! I went for brunch with a friend, had the Benedict Johnny & Cheddar Grits - the grits alone are worth the trip - and the eggs were actually softly poached, not overdone little hockey pucks. My friend is vegetarian and they happily made a veg huevos rancheros for her, no attitude. Portions are generous, so order accordingly. The service was attentive, but not overbearing, relaxed, not asleep. There was a nice buzz, but not so loud you couldn't have a conversation. Now why can't other places do that? As a nice extra, you can actually reserve online, either with their system or OpenTable. I love that - I am so over the whole standing-in-line thing to eat an amped-up breakfast in a "trendy" spot. This is a great place to meet up, have some lovely drinks and food and actually hang out with your friends, or have a quiet newspaper read without feeling rushed. I will definitely be back here! It's not a pretentious posing spot - God knows, there's enough of those around, if that's what you're after.

Fried Chicken!
Get the fried chicken special. Terrific value and three nice juicy pieces of chicken. Not always easy to find simple straight forward classics in this town, and this was a winner.

Delicious Apps
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner and we had a wonderful meal. I had the goat cheese flat bread to start which was delcious and a very large portion. I had to stop myself from finishing it to save room for dinner. My boyfriend had the tartare which was truly amazing--it had the perfect amount of wasabi for a nice kick. For dinner I had the mussells which were very good and my boyfriend had the lamb which was good as well. It wasn't too dim or too loud--a good balance for a date--and the sangria was also very good! Will be back soon!

What's the big deal?
Their toasted ricotta gnocchi with truffle oil is bombastically overrated. It's good, but its not worthy of the hype its been receiving. The truffle oil (which I'm sure is the oil produced from the chemical compound..every restaurant does it) couldn't even be tasted. That being said, it's overpriced. I ordered my hanger steak medium well, and it arrived incinerated..not even well done. Frankly, it looked like a wood log on a plate and it was tough to cut through. Service was a little slow. Nice atmosphere, food quite average.

See JANE run!
Delicious food ... don't miss the ricotta gnocci (the Rescue Chef on the Food Network raved about this dish - and he's right!). The atmosphere is cool but not uber-trendy - nice date spot or place for dinner with friends. The service could have been a little better - our waiter did not visit the table too regularly - and had he ... we would have spent more money on drinks. But ... run to JANE ... you won't be disappointed.
