Fairly mediocre
There are better options in the neighborhood, so there is no need to spend money on decent food and poor service at Jacques. On a recent weekend, my date and I enjoyed the Parisian bistro decor more than the food. The lamb had a good flavor but was served closer to medium well than medium rare. The salmon was fine but did not quite live up to the menu description. More importantly, the service was appaling. When we ordered dessert, we requested the check as well and noted that we were in a hurry. Half an hour later, after repeating the request 6 times to 3 different waiters, still no dessert had arrived. We finally received the check and paid - with the dessert on the tab - because we didnt have time to protest. On the positive side, the small bar is nice and well suited to a pre-meal drink. Just eat elsewhere.

Simply not good!
Not too much to say. Food was barely edible. Service was sloooow. Forgot to bring my drink. More delays. Food arrived cold. I have never even noticed poor food/service at a restaurant. Until i came here.

eat here if you want poor service
My friend was late so I sat down first. The hostess asked if I want to wait for my friend before ordering. That question was dumb. Of course, I want to wait for my friend. I felt they were rushing me to order, pay and get out. At the end of the meal, I paid and waited forever to get change back. The restaurant wasnt busy at all.

Nice brunch :)
I went here w/ my friend for sunday brunch...this place is SOO cute! I really liked the decor!! It's not too big inside but cozy and warm-feeling. I got the croquet monsier which was SO yummy...I took home the left-overs! :) My friend got an omlet which he was pleased by. I would def recommend this place for a cute lil place to catch up with a friend b/c it's not too loud and the food is good :)

Tasty Couscous
I arrived at Jacques with a neutral outlook having read both positive and negative reviews. Pleasantly, I had a delightful dining experience. We ordered puff pastry aux champignons and the rich buttery mushrooms were delectable. The puff pasty was smidge tough and the sauce salty, but all in all enjoyable. We shared Couscous Royal and Merguez Frites. The couscous royal was presented in a charming tagine, exceedingly tasty with lively mint, cinnamon and pungent harissa. Lamb lacked any hint of gaminess and the merguez and chicken were excellent. Although I was assured the portion was substantial, it was not. Merguez Frites was similar in portion and well executed with the exception of very salty frites. The decor was chic brasserie with rich reds, woods and large mirrors. The dining area opens to the street and makes for lovely spring dining. Service was very attentive, friendly and respectful in regards to pushing beverages. I recommend Jacques for tasty Moroccan fare, that is moderate-expensive.

Quick Snack
We were just in NYC for the weekend, and were wandering around SoHo shopping and enjoying a very cold day. It was time for a quick reprieve, so we stopped in Jacques for a snack and beverage. We sat at the bar, and enjoyed fabulous Irish Coffees (it was St Paddy's day!). They took a few minutes to deliver, as the chef was whipping the cream...and it was well worth the wait. We also enjoyed the cheese plate, which consisted of three fabulous cheeses, grapes, sliced pears, and of course a sliced baguette. I'm not sure which cheeses we received, but all three were extremely tasty and were each very different in taste/texture. The bartender was attentive and provided some witty chit/chat. Jacques was a great way to spend a few minutes out of the cold and get recharged for more shopping!

Amazing Experience
I went to Jacques for dinner, a party of two. I ordered a special chicken dish with a merlot reduction atop potatoes au gratin. It was fabulous! The tuna tartare appetizer was amazing as well. The decor has a Moracan feel and is ornate, yet classy. My date and I headed down to Gerbralter (the lounge downstairs) and were impressed with the atmosphere there as well. Once again, the decor blew us away. They have an interesting drink menu, many made with fresh fruit. I ordered a fresh strawberry drink and loved it. Overall, Jacques offerred a wonderful experience and was a great date spot and ideal for groups as well.
