    Food & service went downhill

Used to eat here quite frequently, but will not return. Not only does the staff's pretentiousness rival the high price for mediocre food and inadequate service as of late, but now NO DOGS (even small lap dogs in carriers) are permitted in the outdoor seating area they now are relegated to the sidewalk. ... And they call themselves "French"?!

    Worthy Local Bistro.

Went there Thursday Dec 21st. We got there while it was still uncrowded. The place didn't seem to fill up until 8:30. Our party of three had 3 onion soups, 2 steak frites and 1 cassolet, which was a special. The soup was "fair to good" but the entrees were great and reasonably priced. The service was attentive without being overbearing. I would go again and again. For a reasonable corkage fee, we brought our own wine. Next time, I will skip the soup, and try the Frisee salad. We skipped the desserts, even though they looked tempting. The portions were large enough that we were full.

    Always reliable and delicious

Whenever I want some really good eggs benedict, I come here. It is generously sized, and comes with a hefty side of their amazing pommes frites. But really, everything is delicious here, and to the reviewer who received small mussels, you should go back. we get them all the time and they are always huge and fabulous. also a perfect neighborhood spot to just get a glass of wine and snacks, and sit outside. and personally, I think the outside is large. we park our stroller there and do not feel we're taking up another patron's space. In all, always a great place to eat really quality, authentic french food. Worth the trip!

    Great dinner

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last night. We live a few blocks away and often have dinner here, However, last night the food was even better than ever. We enjoyed wonferful salads and their fabulous mussels and frites. The portions of Mussels were enormous and the provencale sauce was fabulous. Their french fries are to die for. Lovely surroundings and good service all within walking distance.

    So, So

I went to Jacques the other night and was disappointed. I was looking foward to a big bucket of juicy mussells, but instead the mussells were very small and meatless the sauce was also not plentiful, i've had much better mussells and frites out of nyc. The flounder was somewhat dry and not desiring. I felt that all I had ate was a lot of fries that night. The service was also very slow and I sat with mussell shells in my dish for about 15-20 minutes until it was finally cleaned up. I may have just ordered the wrong thing but def. wouldn't go back for mussells.

    I finally tried this place

I recently bought a fondue set (hey, it's making a comeback) and after my failed attempt found out that I could get it here 2 blocks from my apt. AMAZING. I had the more elaborate fondue (the one with brandy and other stuff inside). I then had a prime rib rare, SO good. My mom and friend had filet mignons. We were SO stuffed. Our cute waiter was so nice and attentive. Overall the price was OK I guess (i can never tell what's pricey). A bottle of rose wine, fondue, escargot, and three steak entrees came out the about 300.00 I def will come back here. I hear they have live music too, but it wasn't happening on Sunday evening.

    I love this place

Jacques is a great place. I live in the neighborhood so I eat there often. I've never had a bad experience there. The steak is good and the fries are amazing. The outdoor space is a little small and sometimes it takes them a while to serve if you are seated outside. All in all I think Jacques is a great place especially if it's just you and a friend.
