very good...a nice change for us
we are newbies to indian food, but really enjoyed our dinner here. the food was very tasty (samosa, chicken malai, masala, chicken biryani, and korma). the chicken malai is great for those of us not very adventurous - i don't know if it's "authentic" indian food, but it was positively delicious. the biryani was very good as was the chicken masala. we enjoyed good service and had a charming waiter (from nepal) who helped us make very good selections and was a pleasure to talk with.

Great food and very good service.
Had a very pleasant experience here with family on a late Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is located in a nice strip near union square on University Pl. but is a bit of a fish out of water considering the area is not really known for Ethnic cuisine but moreso for cafe's and bars. The restaurant itself is nice enough although a bit awkward looking but the booths towards the back provide decent intimacy. I think they should scrap the bar towards the front though and just provide additional seating. They will never compete with the other nearby bars in that department. Our waiter was extremely attentive and even gave us recommendations. I wish I would have got his name since I do plan on coming back. The food was excellent. I can not say enough good things about the quality of the food. Everything was authentic, fresh, and delicious. Wonderfully spiced fish biryani. Crisp tasty naan with saag aloo. Beautifully cooked succulent grilled meat in the tandoor mixed grill. Yummy Mango lassis. It was the first time eating Indian for my family and they could not have gotten a better first impression. I do hope they manage to stick around at this location. It is awesome to not have to trek that far to get excellent Indian cuisine.

Excellent!
I love this restaurant. A great combo of good Indian food at good prices. Can't beat. I love Indian food and this is a real find. I hesitated writing a review because I don't want them to get too busy but they deserve success. Don't change!

Best Indian near Union Square
This new Manhattan location of the famous Jackson Diner Indian Restaurant is really great. Had the fried Okra, the lamb vindaloo and both were really good. But, the spinach was outstanding! One of the best Indian restaurants in Manhattan!

Best Indian Food
The sauces are amazing & so flavorful. My favorite item on the menu is the malai kofta, but everything I've had here has been very tasty. Great portions that will last for 2-3 meals. I am happy to say that I order out here frequently. They are fast and the food is always hot & fresh.

Best East Indian on the east side
The Jackson diner has been a standard Indian restaurant in Queens for years. It's certainly was worth the trip to Jackson Heights to eat there. I'm really happy to have them in the neighborhood. Really good Indian food at a very reasonable price. You would have to travel to India to do any better.
