    JLOBs is a must have

Amazing restaurant, intimate small dishes are served out with swift service. Everything we had was great from the crispy sweet breads to the chorizo and clams. Also, they have a great wine selection and some that are well priced. I am actually planning on going for my second time tonight and will attend again the future. Enjoy.

    Amazing!!

Went to Jack's a few weeks back and sat at the bar becasue we made last minute rezzies on a Fri night. It was a great experience...you could watch the chef prepare all the dishes as you enjoyed a fantastic selection of wine. The food was absolutely amazing...from the oysters to the clams with chorizo...octupus....fried oyster. Each plate kept getting better and better. The service was very good and very attentive also. My only (minor) complaint is the price. The plates are a bit small and you want to try to much so with food and wine, can get a bit expensive. I won't let that stop me from going back though.

    Great Hideaway

Some of the best food I've had in the world.I travel alot and this is what I'd love my kitchen to be like. The lobster app ... one of my favorites. As well as the artichoke hearts with pistachio. Betsy is one of the Chefs and is delightful. Sit at the bar for fun alone.

    Excellent experience

We ordered a seafood platter which came with a shrimp cocktail and a three-layered platter: oysters on the bottom layer, clams on the mid layer and caviar on the top layer. The food was superb. The oysters were fresh and juicy, and the caviar came with several dipping choices and toasted thin bread. The service was excellent too. The food was a little pricey but was well worth it. The only thing is that there is not much free space in this place and not that many tables available.

    Perfect

I love Jack's. Absolutely amazing food and perfectly quaint decor - so romantic! Perfect for a special date. And the food is just unbelievable. I have been to all the best restaurants in New York: Masa, La Grenouille, Per Se, Jean-Geroge, etc - Jack's is by FAR my favorite. Well maybe not by faaaar, but it is definitely number one.

Hands Down, Best food below 42nd Street.

I've frequented JLOB at least 3-4 times and have never been disappointed. I discovered the restaurant through a review in NY Magazine and decided to give it a try with my partner. We tend to eat out quite a bit and thus have heightened standards for dining experiences. At first glance, it's a bit of a hole in the wall, but looks can be deceiving. Actually most of the best restaraunts in the EV/LES area, are holes in the wall. Anyway, the food is absolutely delectable at JLOB, although relatively pricey. Definitely try the homemade lobster bisque, but note that the menu is updated seasonally, so that may no longer exist or it may be a modified version. The service is outstanding, but the decor could use a little work. It's certainly the best seafood I've tasted in the city. Definitely a must try! Hope you enjoy!

    Superb!

My wife took me here for my birthday, and the meal was just fantastic as well as adorable. We each had the tasting menu (a bargain, really, at $50) plus we ordered three extra small plates, and it was actually too much food... one or two small plates at most (on top of the tasting menu) would've been fine. Each course was elegantly plated and was just exquisite in and of itself. Most memorable were probably the duck liver pate with the toast points, onions, mustard and little pickles, and the lobster main course. The vine-ripened bloody mary served with an oyster was also a real treat! This is really uptown-style gourmet food served in a cute little east village location. Definitely will return!
