    Poor service

I met my boyfriend for an after-work dinner at Jack's Bistro, having been there several times for pretty decent lunches. Everything was fine through our appetizers, which were decent. Then the server brought out our entrees, but my boyfriend's was not the pork chop that he had ordered, but brook trout instead. She took his entree back. These things happen - no big deal. What happened next is where things went wrong. While he had watched me eat most of my entree, the server never came out to say, well, anything. "Sorry about that, I'll have your pork chop right out for you", might have been nice. But since that didn't happen, we asked another server to send out the manager. When he came out, I asked him if he could expedite the replacement. Immediately, his attitude was poor. "There's nothing we can do now", he said. "It will be out when it's ready". He then just walked away. After I had finished my entree, his pork chop finally arrived. It had clearly been hurried because it was not seasoned at all. We figured we would have the opportunity to let someone know about that when the server and/or manager came to check to see if everything was okay. But no one came to check on us at all and our finished plates sat there for some time before we had to ask for the server to get the check.

Always a good meal at a good price!

I have had the prix fixe lunch ($10) and the prix fixe dinner ($20) and I can tell you that, it might not be Per Se, but for the price, you will get a very nice meal. Its an easy going, casual spot in the W. Village with a pleasant ambience. I wish there were more "Jack's in the city!

    expensive coffee

Stopped by to try their "special $10.00 lunch." The food was good but a little on the skimpy side . The salad which I chose to have with my sandwich consisted of a handfull of lettuce on the side of the plate.) I put the lettuce on my sandwich because it came without.) The soda was small and no refill. We ordered coffee after lunch and when the bill arrived I noticed that coffee at this joint (a plain cup of Joe-nothing fancy) is $3.50 a cup. Maybe I don't get out much but that seems a bit much. Left feeling a bit "ripped off" by the final tab. warning: read the small print.

    Great Food, Great Experience

Last night I stopped by Jack Bistro with some friends. The hostess greeted us at the door. We asked her if she could set us up with a special table. She set us up with a community style table along some comfy wrap around seats in the front which was pretty cool. We all went for the $20 winter dinner special. I chose the French Onion soup to start which was delicious, followed by the 4 Cheese Ravioli (there's like 30 choices)... So Good. They even allowed us to swap our dessert course for cocktails and glasses of wine. Very accommodating service. We are planning on going back for brunch!

    Disappointment by menu change

Jack's recently changed their menu and by change I mean downgrade. I can't believe I had to pay $2.50 for two Pillsbury rolls just to have bread with my soup since the waitress never even brought the bread sticks we saw at every other table! I liked the Halloween decor and the seasonal cocktail but all in all I am going to have to decline the next chance to eat dinner there

    Great Burger

We stopped at Jacks for Lunch on a Saturday afternoon. A really nice sunny day in September so we wanted the patio seating but it only had a two seat table left. The manager then quickly set us up by moving tables together( we had a party of six w/three teens) at the open front. We were able to enjoy the patio breeze while being inside! We ordered the spinich dip and nachos for apps, alongwith the mimosa's. Both were good ,the nachos were not the large heaping type though. ( the teens made quick work of it). Our waiter, who was great , attentive but not hovering, brought out our burgers cooked as we asked. Medium to well. He kept our drinks filled, and the mimosa's topped off. The choices of toppings were many but 4 of us chose the Jack burger. A really good tasting burger and bun. The whole meal was great. Will visit again soon.

    Good neighborhood place, great brunch

I live close by to Jack and have been coming here for a few years now and also like bringing friends. I love going there for brunch because their brunch menu is great (plus Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's at one $3 each!) and you don't have to wait an hour for a table. The French toast is incredible. They have a few different varieties, all VERY thick cut brioche. The gingerbread French toast with apple compote is my favorite. Great salads, amazing and perfectly gooey baked mac & cheese. They also have a great idea on the dessert menu called Dessert Dollops, which basically gives you a few bites of dessert for a reduced price. Perfect if you want something sweet but don't feel like a full-size dessert. Service is friendly and generally good.
