    not good

The sweet and sour chicken- hard as a rock (was it even cooked???) and the chicken lo mein... I had literally two bites and had to throw it out. I feel like these are two pretty basic Chinese take-out ordering staples, so any place should be able to get it right.

    my experience

I always order combination special from J. east. it is so worthy. a lot food and reasonable price. my favorite is boneless rib with pork fried rice! yummy! i also like their steam roast pork bun and shrimp dumpling. The ladies work there are really friendly. I never really have to order because every time I walk in, they already know what I want!

    Subpar service!

My wife and I had been ordering from this place for some years, but I think they have a new owner or manager. I ordered steamed chicken and string beans. This is the second time in a month that the chicken pieces were little slivers...and not very much to add. I called and told the woman taking phone orders about my situation. She was very nasty and would not listen. I was not rude and just thought she should let the cook know. Instead of apologizing etc, she was very curt and rude. There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants in Manhattan. I believe in good customer service, especially with the recession. Good luck J. East. I will take my business elsewhere.

    Great Food!

The General Saos Chicken was some of the best I ever had in the city. Hey they forgot my Diet Coke, but the chicken was awesome and more then made up for that mistake. Plus they said I would get a soda credit for the future.

    solid

A touch more pricey than the competition but the quality is a touch higher. Recommended.

    A Dieters Delight

I need to lose 50 #'s by the summer..The Chicken With Mixed Vegetables is really a great value and great tasting. Its more than enough to get 2 meals out of. Everything is quick steamed, the veggies and the chicken. It comes with 2 sort of dipping sauces, one of which is like a black bean with lots of garlic. I also love the Ribs but they dont love me!!..Enjoy!

    decent

it's hard to find good chinese take out. a lot of the time the chicken and beef seem skeptical. so far the items i have ordered from here are better than the other chinese places i've ordered from in the area. plus they're quick and inexpensive.
