Foodies' little secret
Excellent selection of japanese tapas at this under-appreciated neighborhood gem. skip the sushi (which is fine in its own right, but not nearly as good as its neighbor nearby) and have all the awesome okonomiyaki, donburi, curry, onigiri, yaki, etc dishes.

Great Japanese food
This place is wonderful! My friend and I went to this restaurant yesterday; its right in my area. I decided to come to this restaurant when I realized how good the reviews were, and I must say I was NOT disappointed! I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to a friend.

Finally, diving beyond Sushi in Cobble Hill
Great place, love their Yakitori. We had chicken skin, chicken heart and quail egg wrapped with bacon. Excellent. Surprisingly, unlike most izakayas, they have great special rolls, angry ocean (crunchy spicy salmon and yellowtail with spicy tuna on top), dynamite roll are must have. Service is attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back.

Nice menu, pleasant pace
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Ths place, unlike most Japanese restaurants is quite vegetarian friendly.

Not so good
Just ordered delivery. My wife got the Ramen with Miso Broth. Ramen delivery isn't always the best idea, but it was ok. You get the broth in one container, the noodles and other ingredients in another. I ordered a variety of sashimi and sushi rolls. The tuna and salmon were fresh and good. The mackerel and the yellowtail were not. They were not fresh and were inedible. I actually had to discard them immediately based on the smell alone. Kind of disappointing.

Done Deal
The pork katsu don is cheap, tasty, juice, and enormous. Great deal!

real japanese home cooking
first time visit, and was a bit confused by the flashing xmas lights, the non-japanese (but very good) music and the diner-type menu. but the food is a different story. really fresh sushi and a terrific assortment of authentic japanese plates at affordable prices. we come from japanese stock and had a great meal. it's still byob-which on smith st. makes it easy to do, and keeps the final bill a nice sight. will definitely return.
