Poor Service
Had dinner here with my girlfriend and overall was an enjoyable experience. Food is fine, atmosphere is lovely but issues with the waiter. Pushy in a way to make us all uncomfortable... he starts off by "recommending" a white wine, not only had we not asked for his recommendation, but we had not even ordered our meals yet! Ever consider I might want a meal that needs to be paired with red? Of course not, just trying to push an expensive bottle on us... He then tells us the specials, I order my main course and he tries to convince me to change to one oft he seafood specials (it so happens I am allergic to shellfish). He also went out of his way to tell us "I recommend a plate of spinach for every table"

ok but there are better places
The place is small, lovely and inviting but the food--for the neighborhood--is only so so. The pastas have little flavor (we tried the special one night and the primavera). The entrees were fine but nothing special--the chicken with sausage and the salmon. the vegetables are quite good , the tiramisu good but again, nothing special On both weekend nights lately we were stunned by the sub par bread--and in an Italian restaurant! The whole grain bread was so hard it seemed stale but that's unlikely since we tried it twice and the white bread tasted like the cheapest one you coud get in any market. The reservation hostess seems a bit uneasy with her job; she was overwhelmed both weekend nights we were there and wasn't able to reassure us that our reservations would be honored although they were eventually.

Can't Stop Going!
The first time I walked into this hole in the wall romantic Italian restaurant I knew instantly I would be back. With a small space they make you feel so comfortable, cozy and warm. The service is impecable and they keep the authentic Italian hospitality which always kills it for me. The food is a perfect combination of fresh ingredients and simply yet complex combinations. Love it, keep going back, dont go because I want this secret to myself!

Nice find
My wife and I were going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.We planned on finding a place close by.Based on recommendations on this site we had dinner there tonight. We found the place very intimate, the service quite nice and attentive and the food freshly prepared. The prices are in line and the suggested bottle of wine from Sicily was quite nice.We will be back.

Adorable little Italian restaurant with great food!
I was looking for a romantic little spot for my boyfriend and I and this could not have been more perfect. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very romantic. Can't wait to take my family when they visit NYC!

Wonderful!
We discovered Italianissimo several years ago and love it. We are regulars. The service is extremely attentive and the atmosphere is cozy and usually quiet. I think they have the best red sauce in the city. The specials are always special, but if you don't like them, the chef will make anything you'd like.
