reliably good turkish food
it's a bit higher priced than the many competing neighborhood turkish restaurants, but we like it. the sigara boresi, shephard salad w/feta, shish kebob and tavuka sote is very good. actually, the tavuka sote is excellent. the service is good, the food is nicely prepared - it's a vg restaurant.

Great food and service
This is my second time going to there and they always have great food and service. The prices are a little pricy compare to others Turkish Restaurants. The food is always fresh. My favorite is their Turkish salad and the chicken chuck kabab. I also order the Flan for dessert and it was super delicious with the perfect amount of sugar. Service is great and not pushy. The fried calamaris is the only dish that i didnt really like and is a little pricey for the amount and quality. is a great restaurant if you looking for good food by the bay.

Overpriced and overrated
Been to this place on 5+ occasions due to my in-laws being in love with it, but I just can't see the appeal. All of the restaurants along Emmons are way, way overpriced - prehaps people think this place is reasonable becuase it is at the lower price range than other spots further up towards Ocean and Bedford, but they are wrong! Istanbul is far too expensive for the quality and quantity of the food served. Platters are overloaded with rice; what little meat there is is usually overdone and/or tough - the lamb in particular is like often like chewing carpet. I am also pretty convinced that their calimari is from a grocery store freezer rather than being freshly prepared squid. Service varies between efficient and surly (nothing new for Sheepshead), but watch out for the valet parking guy. A friend was called 'cheap' by this moron for fiving him a $5 tip for the 'free' valet (they more than recoup what they pey El Greco for using their car park in the food charges). I hope he chokes on the lamb.
