Take me away, to the Islands
I LOVE this place. I cannot express enough how much I LOVE this place. Yes, the food is delicious. Made with t.l.c. and you can taste it. Yes, the service is a little slow, yes, it's a tiny hole-in-the-wall, but you really feel like you're on the islands. Everybody is laid back and relaxed. If you want take-out, call ahead. Give yourself approx. 1 and a half to 2 hours if you are dining in. Sit back and get ready to enjoy a wonderful meal. The prices are great, the servings are HUGE and it's BYOB! I have sampled most of the menu. Jerk chicken and shrimp are my favorite. The calypso shrimp is also good but a little too much coconut for my taste. If you like exotic meat, the goat curry is delicious. The wings are great and the mac and cheese is always worth the wait. I would also recommend the curried vegetables. I can't say I've ever ordered anything I didn't like. It's right across from the Brooklyn Museum and the Botanical Gardens are just down the street. On nice days, I order take-out and enjoy my food on the museum steps while I people watch. I highly recommend this place! And I love the ladies that run it, they are the sweetest!

Yum!
Wow, excellent food! The best caribbean food I've had in New York. The rice and peas, the jerk lamb, chicken and shrimp are all bursting with flavours. I intend to eat my way through the entire menu! There goes my waistline! Yum, yum. Tops, go Islands!

Poor service!
first off, let me say that the food here is excellent. BUT the service here is poor. dont go to the restaurant expecting to be serviced because you'll be sitting by yourself for 20 minutes even if you're the only customer there. also, dont bother ordering delivery unless you want to wait for an hour and a half for cold food thats missing your side orders! i hate saying this because the owners are so hard working and the food is good.....but this is the truth....

Flew out from CA to eat here!
I recently moved to NY and my friends suggested this place, my boyfriend visited and now he can't stop talking about it! He flew out for his birthday and all he wanted was to eat at the Islands. The food is so delicious! The goat curry and jerk chicken are a must try and the rice and beans are out of this world. The restaurant seats about 5 people its best to order take out, but this place is busy all the time, so order 2 hours early. Good food, good value, an all time favorite. Not a good place for dieters, the food is a bit greasy.

Delightful
I love love this place. i went on a recent freezing night and it felt like stumbling into someone's kitchen - so warm & inviting (and very small!). there's a little seating area upstairs, but take-out is a better bet. the portions are generous, as are the two women who run the place. they gave us free soup because it was so damn cold out. i was particularly enthusiastic about the jerk chicken. overall a great, friendly neighborhood spot.
