Island is the classic neighborhood place and suceeds very well at its purpose. The food is great. Service efficient and kind. Recipes are basic, or rather well known, but its the sort of food you are thinking of when you don t want to stay home for dinner/stop on your way home from a late day in the office. Bread and butter could be improved. Especially the butter. Great tilapia, well cooked pasta, good apple pie etc. Good bar. The menu is very well balanced. Atmosphere is great. Always close to full, mostly with people who live nearby.

Been here many times as it is one of the only restaurants in the hood. The food cam be very good but not very creative. The service, however, is poor. They are so slow that I find myself waving frantically to get anyone's attention.(This is not even at busy times) The servers are usually standing up by the bar chatting amongst themselves. One time, I decided to get up and get the water myself. Very annoying! ARG!

As a close neighbor of this restaurant, I have given it a dozen tries. If you are going for anything other than a drink at the bar, do not expect good dining here. Poorly prepared and tasteless food is the result. There are certainly many other bistros in the area if you are visiting. I wish that it were even passable, because I live around the corner and would frequent the restaurant if possible.
