Island Burgers & Shakes

I was just in NYC and had read about this being one of the best burgers in town. I concur! It is indeed the best burger I have ever had. I had the Mona Lisa and it was so good! I didn't know before hand about the fries but you don't even miss it. Next visit to NYC will definitely include another trip to the Island.

These are the best burgers I've ever had. Never have I wanted fries less. The thing about these burgers is that all the ingredients are so fresh and high quality. It's hard to believe they make much money on a hamburger with that much fresh avocado, fancy cheese, etc.

Get the salads, they are excellent, as are the fajitas. I've never had a burger there in the few dozen times I have been because the chicken and salad options are so good. If you're looking for stellar service, or charming ambiance, go to a 3 or 4 star joint. And yeah, there's no french fries, but you probably don't need them anyway.

I was excited to try this place out and so I went with a few friends. We were certainly impressed by the menu, and any place with strawberry malts is okay by me, even without the fries. However, the service was poor. Our waiter said maybe 3 words to us the entire time, never looked at us directly, and took forever to bring us our check and change after many attempts to speed the process along. Finally we took our check to the front and got our change ourselves. The burgers were pretty good-- pretty standard patty but the toppings were fun and a nice change. But the service left us all with a sour taste in our mouths. I won't be returning or recommending it to any of my friends.

I've had a lot of burgers in my life. And all over the place, too. But never have I had a burger more flavorful than Island Burger. And the Churasco is a welcome counterpart for the non-red meat eaters of the world. They offer the same flavor combinations for both! How can you beat that selection? And the fact that they don't have fries is a nice change of pace. You must try at least TWO different flavors, and then have your friends try others. And then tell everyone you know to try more. If you like burgers, if you like flavor, you cannot go wrong with Island Burger. It has saved me many a night working in the sweatshop that is TV.

I went to Island Burgers after reading a few reviews from various sources. As everyone says, the place is really small and the lack of french fries is a bit annoying, but I knew about this beforehand and thus wasn't so disappointed. My girlfriend and I started off with a strawberry shake and a chocolate malted. Both were thick, flavorful and excellent. They were probably the best part of the meal. Then we had to wait awhile for our two burgers, a "Here's Giami" and a "Hippo." Both burgers were pretty good, although just as some previous reviews said, my medium burger came out more raw than anything close to medium. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her Hippo though, although I found all of the flavors a bit overwhelming. Overall the meal wasn't bad for $30 (we got an order of chips too) but I wouldn't say this was the best burger in the city. Selection can only go so far.

it was good. I went there with two friends since he raved about this place. It was a cozy place and sat closer to the back so I think we had more room. I was a little upset that my meduim burger came out more meduim rare and my friend asker for a meduim well and came medium. I still ate it b/c I was hungry.
