I think you can find other places in the city with better burgers. The burgers were dry, over cooked, and tasted like you can get it at any ordinary diners. The fries were great! Especially the cheese fries!

Seriously great 'Napalm' churasco, fries and vanilla shake from Island for lunch today (13th Oct 2011) and as a lover of very hot/spicy food, would recommend this place to anyone! Their habanero sauce is made right there, and is the 2nd-hottest sauce from any food culture I've had (the other is a curry house in Spain). It almost beat me, and 30 minutes after I'd finished I could still feel the tingle. Super-friendly and very fast service as well, and 2 of us ate fries, burger/churasco, and a shake each for less than $46... Our new favourite burger shack in NYC. Official.

stumbled upon this place with a friend craving a burger. had one their offerings on the ciabata bread with the cheese fries and a beer. absolutely great burger. super tasty. wolfed it down in record time. this place is definetly a casual type of burger shack but excellent food and value for what it is.

Five of us went to the new Upper West Side location last week and were really disappointed. The hamburgers were worse than mediocre. We each ordered a different type and they all tasted exactly the same. And all were dry and on buns that were very average at best. The milkshakes were not generous or outstanding in any way and the fries were just OK. And the prices were high for a hamburger to say the least. Needless to say, we will not be going back or recommending it to friends.

Island Burgers has been one of my favorites since it opened. Unfortunately, my latest order (take-out) has me bewildered and disappointed. Ordered a patty melt, and took home a very small, undercooked burger on bread two or three times the size of the burger -- and the bread wasn't even toasted (as their menu had promised). I had a patty melt last week from a nearby diner that was cheaper and FAR better than this. I am hoping this order from Island Burgers was an anomaly, as I like this place. I'm posting this in the hope that they'll read it and pay a little more attention to their loyal customers' expectations.

Tried this place out based on reviews from this site. Was not disappointed. Burger was good (not great). Fries were fantastic. Side salad came with very good house dressing and extremely tasty tomatoes. We typically try a new burger place each time we visit NYC and this was our first here. NY Burger (OK); Shake Shack (good); 5 Napkin (over priced for what you get); Lucky's Famous Burgers (OK). Not sure why they don't have onion rings on the menu - wish they did. Didn't try the shake but everyone else in the place seemed to have one. Service was good. Two burgers, fries, side salad, one soda and one beer under $40.

I ordered a charasco, like I have done on numerous occasions. It came, the bread was stale, way too stale to eat. I called, not wanting to have to throw away the $15 including tip that my dinner cost, and was indirectly accused of trying to scam a free sandwich. Then, after relenting, was told I had to return my stale sandwich to the delivery guy after I had already thrown it out. The delivery guy even refused to give me the new sandwich until I presented the old one! Finally, after some wrangling, I was granted my fresh, new churasco, and it's as delicious as it usually is. But the time wasted on this, not to mention being accused of trying to scam, leaves a slightly bitter taste in my mouth. Recommended for the churascos, wary of the delivery service...
