Really great UWS burger and shake place. Loved in in Hell's Kitchen and hope it sticks around on the UWS.

My boyfriend and I go there regularly. The burgers are good most days, but the real reason I go is for the fajitas. They are delicious! The Chili is also one of our favourites.

I have had their burger at the 9th Ave location and though not blown away, the portion and variety made me go back. I came to 80 ST for a calorie splurge. I picked the Princess Grace burger, topped with boursin cheese, ham, onions, peppers and mushrooms. It looked lovely but when I bit into it....tasteless. The beef was dry and aerated and tasteless. The mushrooms and peppers were out of a can and tasteless. The bread was like cardboard. They may have forgotten to put on the cheese cause I have no memory of any cheesy flavoring and the ham was a super thin piece of the kind of ham that come in one of those plastic zip lock packages for $1.29 in the supermarket. Maybe the salt burn from the ham dulled my taste buds but the burger on the whole was tasteless. I was so amazed at this feat that at one point I picked apart and tasted each component of the burger individually and was even more surprised to confirm that there was no flavor in any one item. The french fries (not included in the price of the burger) were also off...coated with some kind of crunchy floury coating (like frozen supermarket fries) the biggest impression I got from them was salt flavor. The place itself is nice, clean and the wait staff pleasant...the food is TASTELESS! DON'T GO!

Finally a great burger place on the upper west side. This place has great burgers, great service and I hope it sticks around!

As the only vegetarian in a burger loving family, I was wary when my mother suggested going to Island. Looking at the menu, I was disappointed to see so few meet free options. I ordered the grilled cheese expecting a mediocre one at best. To say the least, I was happily surprised when I took my first bite. By far the best grilled cheese I have ever had ~ neither too greasy nor too cheesy. Everyone seemed to love their food, burgers, shakes, and salads included. Although often crowded and sometimes noisy, I would recommend coming here to vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

I got the stimulus plan: cheeseburger, chips, soda, for $10. The burger was awesome. Only complaint is that I ordered it medium and when I bit in to it it was pretty rare. It didn't bother me too much, but if you are particular about temperature, then make it clear to the guys on the phone.

They really do make a good burger. But my favorite is the churassco, which is their chicken sandwich. I've also had the chicken salad, which is a salad with chicken. The fries are ok, the baked potato is better. a welcome addition to the Upper West Side.
