On a search for ramen in midtown, I came across this place on menupages, I must say... what a fabulous find! The food was excellent, the service was phenomenal and the price is right! The selection was abundant and the lunch specials were truly worth your bang for the buck. Thank you for the wonderful lunch experience and see you again tomorrow!

Sadly, the downtown Ise has really suffered in service and quality over the last year or so. I ate there today at the bar and service was terrible. The bar person was also waiting tables and never paid attention to whether we needed anything. I ordered some additional food and had to send it back. The egg yolk from uni with quail egg fell off the sushi and the server still expected me to take it. The hand roll was not conical in shape and looked like they made a regular roll and just didn't cut it. Needless to say, picking it up and eating it resulted in the contents squeezing out the bottom onto my plate. I used to love this place. Never again for me. There are too many good sushi places in lower Manhattan to bother with this one.

Stopped by for lunch, had the spicy/crunchy tuna roll, crab dumplings, green salad and miso soup - all very fresh and tasty. It is a small restaurtant but cozy and service is very attentive and friendly. In all, a good dining experience.

This place is fantastic. Definately one of the best in the neighborhood. Try the spicy tuna roll here. It's great!

I went here just last night with a friend. I really love their sanma no shioyaki! Their sanma (I believe it's called mackerel in English) is so yummeeeeee!! make sure you ask the waitress how to eat it (the soysauce and lemon and the horse radish) my friend really enjoyed the meal, too! we got the mackerel, the hijiki salad (it's good for your beauty!!), the menchi katsu (not too great), and he got some sushi and a roll (that he was claiming was great). it came out to be like $50. (and left a $9 tip) japanese people love this place. I've been coming here for years, but now that I've discovered their mackerel, I'll be back more often!

I often go there for lunch and it is always packed with people (mostly Japanese people, which is a good sign for the quality of food). They have great lunch specials and the waitresses are very attentive. I just tried dinner last night and was pleasantly surprised. The place was not as crowded as during lunch hour but still very full at around 8.30pm. I had the combo with Kastu pork and sashimi. Sashimi was really fresh and the pork was tender. The meal came with salad, soup, and dessert. It was a great value with only around 16 dollars. I was only disappointed that we could not get the seats at the small rooms (where you can take off the shoes and sit on the cushions), because they were all reserved. But I was very happy with the meal and the service. The waitress was so nice. She didn't rush us at all when my friend and I sat there chatting for another 20 minutes after we paid.

I concur with the other reviews about the service. The waitresses were very welcoming and friendly. Our particular waitress gave us plenty of attention, which is always a plus when going to any restaurant. The lighting could have been better however, it was a little to dim in there. I had the chicken teriyaki which was good, but my friend had the shrimp tempura which was excellent. Overall this place is a "nice little spot." I look forward to returning.
