Poor lunch service
I usually come here for dinner and always enjoy my food and the overall atmosphere. But after coming to this restaurant for lunch I have lost so much respect. When I came into the restaurant I was promptly taken to the back room which was actually nice and open compared to the front. The Negative though was one server in particular.

Overpriced
In more ways than one, you don't get what you pay for at this place. I ordered take out and when I returned to my office, I found my order was filled incorrectly. Additionally, another customer who came in after me got her food first and was out the door which prompted me to request for my pre-made salad and a single vegetarian roll. The salad dressing was icky sweet. The roll seaweed was too chewy. I won't return especially at those prices.

i thought it was great
i was treated to dinner at iroha by my japanese friend who dines here frequently. i checked the menupages reviews & was slightly apprehensive. but it was a lovely meal. we sat in the back room & were attended by very friendly servers. food came swiftly; we ordered both cooked and raw and all were delicious. my friend ordered so much food saying that the "portions were small". the portions were not small. i paraphrase the menu : "octopus balls" were amazing, the "burdock frites" excellent, the sashimi salad had much more sashimi then i expected. and the sake selection was impressive. the demographic of the diners was asian - always a good sign. we dined at 6:15p on a wednesday and had the back area to ourselves for 1 hour. the squid was good too! definitely going back.

Waste of money and time
Overpriced for the quality of food. There was a funky smell around the sushi bar. Charged toro price for a small piece of regular tuna. Really salty soy sauce. Won't go back .... Service could've been better.

Quite good
I have been to this restaurant before, and it was very nice to find an affordable Japanese restaurant in such a location! Try to have the specials of the day, they are so good! I tried the aji (whole fish sashimi style) and the little squid with uni -superb!- as well as the wagu intestines in a pot. All of them were excellent and my bill came to $ 58 including tip. I normally spend $ 120 for sushiden, but sushi is different and better there! My only regret: the over-friendly Filipino waitress. Perhaps she liked me -I am Portuguese- or she is normally that friendly.

Don't go
One of the worst Japanese restaurant experiences I have had in almost 50 years. My Japanese wife said two words about the restaurant "Mazui" (awful food) and "Takai" (expensive). The only redeeming feature was that our waitress was nice and tried to be helpful. But she seemed to have no control over the kitchen, which took forever to send our order out. When it finally arrived at our table, however, I wished that it hadn't. There are good Japanese restaurants in New York and not so good ones. But Iroha was in a class by itself- one of the worst. Save yourself the trouble. Don't go.
