Ate there tonight, had a Groupon. They have a special menu for Groupons, so we ordered from that. We paid $55 for the Groupon, got 2 appetizers, 2 dinners, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine, which sounded great, until I got home and checked the menu (there were no prices on their menu at the restaurant). Discovered they had a special dinner for $15.95 with, guess what, 2 appies, 2 dinners, etc. That meant our dinner could have been $32 plus whatever the wine cost, so where's the bargain in that? Also, I had the chicken parm which was definitely a frozen patty. Yucko--the rest of the meal was good, but won't go back--what Italian restaurant would serve a defrosted chicken patty covered with cheese and a dollop of sauce and call it chicken parm? Too many great Italian restaurants in NYC--don't waste your time here--

There was nothing on the simple Italian-American menu to capture the attention of an admitted food snob, but the meal and accompaniments turned out to be unexpectedly wonderful. The waiter and staff only added to the picture: friendly, charismatic and helpful; attentive when needed and giving us space when not. Overall, a charming and very pleasant evening.

I live right by Intermezzo and have ordered from them for 5 years. They were always so consistent and good, especially for the value. I ordered from their 2 weeks ago and the food was inedible. I had chicken pail lard. The quality of the chicken was much worse and it was completely overcooked and rubbery. I couldn't even cut it. I gave it to my dog and he couldn't even eat it. I didn't realize it was under new management until I read this. Shame a neighborhood standby has gone so downhill.

We assure you that your experience is an anomoly as we take pride in our service (we are in the service business after all)! Intermezzo has been under new management since 11/2011, and we've taken strides to improve service and menu/food since. We take your complaints seriously, so we appreciate this feedback and will ensure your next experience is better. However, to date, we have not received any email from you. Intermezzo used to be my favorite restaurant, food used to be great, service stellar. Now there has been a complete turn around. You have to search for a menu, then get up and search for a server (totally icompetent) and search to get a second glass of wine. In addition, entree came with a substitution without any notice and there was no one to complain to or request a change. Food was cold. People at bar were more interested in socializing amongst themselves and we had to interrupt several times to request the check ! I complained to the restuarant twice via their internet site, but I guess they don't care about their customers as they never responded to my complaint.
