Good Food vs Bad Ambience
I am a huge fan of trattoria style food, and I could not wait for the Ino guys to open this outpost in my neighborhood (the LES) last year. Sadly, both times I've been to Inoteca, I've been underwhelmed (I even went twice because I wanted it to be great). Perhaps it started with the looooong noisy wait at the bar? Once seated, service vacillated between cutesy/flirtatious and pushy. My companions and I ordered lots of dishes---the notable egg toast included, but left hungry and feeling sort of ripped off...both times.

Good vibes
6 of us met at 'inoteca today & it was fabulous. There was no pressure about us waiting an hour for the whole group to collect. Our waiter could not have been nicer, wish I'd taken his name! The menu was perfectly explained & we were under no pressure to order staight away. We were well looked after & thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We look forward to going back.

Attitude does not match menu
If we were only talking about the food, I'd give 5 stars to the kitchen, not to mention the polite chef we happened to pass on the way out the door... cheeses, flavor, all there. As for service, don't go for service. The server could've been honest & said he forgot a few plates on the order, but rather just had us waiting 20 minutes and blamed the kitchen, so some of our party received dinner when everyone else was done, and he couldn't have been in more of a rush to get us started, and obviously finished. I think the server gets his manners from the guy who mans the dining room, not too friendly to put it nicely. Still overall, no reason to let a few Bad apples totally ruin your experience, they're design and menu crush both the negatives...

Top tapas
Inoteca is a really wonderful place to go with friends -- totally great vibe. A young woman was even serenaded by an opera singer/waiter for her birthday! Very good service and although crowded, there was zero wait for a party of 3 on Tuesday @ 9pm. Great soundtrack, as well, and not too loud for conversation. A very modest bottle of recommended Tuscan wine proved to be most excellent, and the meal (excluding the wine) came to like 25 dollars each -- we shared 5 small plates plus 3 desserts! A great night.

Perfect hangout
This is the best place to hang out with friends, drink some wine, and munch on the most creative combinations of food! The prices are surprisingly reasonable, the wine list is huge, (lots of friendly help deciding on which one from the staff), and the chef is adorable!

Superb!
Excellent food! huge wine list... moderate prices.... good service.. a very New Yorky place... My favorites: ham paninis and polpette - you will never eat meatballs after trying here - don't know what the sauce is but man that stuff is just great... oh yeah and don't leave the place without ordering Verduzzo (after dinner wine). Enjoy this truly wonderful place - one drawback, they don't take reservations unless you are a party of six or more, so the wait for say 4 people can be 40+ minutes, But, you can hang out at the bar and try some wine.

Totally great
I loved this place ... not only was the food amazing and well priced but the location and vibe inside the place was great.
