Melt In Your Mouth Truffle Toast

What a delicious meal I had at Inoteca. Starting with the truffle toast, then lasagne and a cacciatore panini. Followed by a plate of cheeses, and delicous reds to go with the meals. Service was very good and the waitress was very knowledgeable on the wine list. I would definitely recommend this place over and over again. And I must say that truffle toast is still on my mind.

    Faultless

At last... a restaurant that lives up to its reputation. Fantastic food, superb wines, great atmosphere and friendly - and helpful - staff. A perfect night out if you're looking for a relaxed glass or two of wine and some good, light food to go with it. Couldn't fault it.

    Worth very cent!

People are sadly mistaken, this place is GREAT. I work in the industry and appreciate this place for a number of reasons, great basic homestyle menu that is NOT a rip-off. While they get quite crowded, please remember you are in the LES, not brooklyn somewhere. As for Service, go see Tony, that guy knows his wines, (which are more than balanced for a good wines at the 40/50 dollar level) food pairings, and did I forget to mention killer late-nite hours which someone like me really appreciates after work on a saturday night. I really don't know how people were dissatisfied. This place is great, okay maybe the olive plate is a bit pricey, but c'mon! This is NYC!

    Not a good experience

Maybe mine just happened to be a one-time bad experience but I'm not planning on going back there. The food was waaaay too salty and the waitress took it upon herself to charge an additional tip on my friend's credit card when she was already personally given the tip in cash. She offered no apology when my friend called to rectify the situation. What the heck is that?

    Fabulous Wine and Cheese

Our love of 'inoteca is due to 2 things....the great wine list and the awesome cheese selection. The selection of Italian wines is one the largest I've seen in the City, and the cheeses are incredible and a great value. On the downside, the bread that accompanies the cheese is mediocre, unless you request extra toasted bread, which you have to ask for. The "affetatti" or cold cut plate is very good. The rest of the items on the menu are only fair, although the porchetta sandwich is top notch but you need a big appetite to finish it. The waitstaff is truly very friendly, but when the place gets mobbed, there isn't much to do but grin and bear the wait. Bottom line is....go on off days or off hours and enjoy a relaxing bottle of Italian wine and feast on delicious cheese (try the one with truffle).

    Good Food vs Bad Ambience

I am a huge fan of trattoria style food, and I could not wait for the Ino guys to open this outpost in my neighborhood (the LES) last year. Sadly, both times I've been to Inoteca, I've been underwhelmed (I even went twice because I wanted it to be great). Perhaps it started with the looooong noisy wait at the bar? Once seated, service vacillated between cutesy/flirtatious and pushy. My companions and I ordered lots of dishes---the notable egg toast included, but left hungry and feeling sort of ripped off...both times.
