Great little gem on the UWS
After going to a nasty indian restaurant on Lexington and 28th, my sister (who was visiting from out west) we decided to give it one more try at Indian food. I took her to Indus Valley and we loved the food. The chicken biryani was excellent, the service was amazing, the bread delicious and I will definitely go back. Glad you are in my neighborhood Indus.

Fantastic
Happened in late one night with no expectations. The food was amazing! Loved all the seeds, spices and fresh herbs. Have ordered take out many time since- just as good. Can't wait to make my way through the menu!

The best Indian restaurant in the City!
Each and every time I go to this restaurant, I'm extremely pleased! The service is efficient and very friendly. The atmosphere is conducive to intimacy, yet welcomes a large party. The food is delicious and always served timely. I especially recommend the garlic shrimp, the Malligatawny soup and the curry chicken, although the dishes are my favorites! Don't fore go an opportunity to dine at this restaurant!

An exceptional neighborhood restaruant
I have gone to the Indus Valley many times since its opening. The food and service have never disappointed me, my family, or our guests. This is an unusually good and consistent restaurant. Your fussy reviewers should think again.

Awesome place
I've been here a few times with my boyfriend and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the Chicken Korma (mine) and the Chicken Vindaloo (his, which he says is the spiciest he's ever had), and the garlic naan (which is always perfect). The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is always calm and lovely. I think the previous reviewer did go on a bad day, because we love this place!

Did we just show up on a bad night?
I used to live less than a block away, and I loved this place - best Indian food I've had in the city. But I went back for dinner last night (after not having eaten there for about a year) and had a very disappointing meal. The food was OK but not great, served fast but not very warm. My dish was spicier than I expected when I asked for "mild," and the naan wasn't very good. Most disappointing was the lemonade (with mint and ginger), which I order every time I'm there. I used to love it, but this time I couldn't drink more than a few sips; it did not taste good. Did they lose the old recipe? The service at Indus Valley is always weird -- not exactly "friendly," and a little aggressive with the up-selling. But I don't care about that when the food is great. After last night I think I'll stick to the cheaper Indian options. And I'll stop recommending that lemonade.

yum yum wow.
I went to Indus Valley on a whim with very little cash. We had a great time! Immediately seated even though the house was packed! Served very quickly as well! Formal atmosphere, but not so much so that you cannot walk in wearing jeans. Low price and cheerful staff! Almost a bit too eager, but that is better than being ignored! Even for two poor students this was incredibly reasonable and lovely! The food was fantastic, in taste and texture! Only real complaint was strongly disliking the lemonade.... It is kind oƒ crounded and loud, but so are most places in NYC!
