This is a 10 on any scale.
OK, I have dined at 100 Indian Restaurants in NYC, and after my dining experience here, I will never go anywhere else--Indigo is spectacular! The ambiance is warm and inviting, the music transcendental, the lighting perfect (so my wife and friend tell me), and the owner, Bhatia, charming. The service was impeccable and they seemed to read our minds--I am not sure we will need a menu next time. There are so many delicious items on the menu we left the appetizer choices up to Bhatia and was that a good decision--If you come here and don’t try the Bhel Puri (puff rice, cilantro, noodle, etc) as an appetizer you don’t know what you are missing--that complemented with the Vegetable Samosas, Bhajias (fritters) and other assorted items I cannot pronounce--wow! So for dinner, and I love spicy, I had the Lamb Vindaloo (requested spicy+), my wife had the Chicken Butter Makani, and our friend had the Aloo Gobhi. My Lamb was so tender and the sauce--I am still thinking about it! The spices warmed and reached its residual heat index just as I finished--whoa! Just in time, one more minute and I would have pulled the fire alarm, but was that delicious. The Butter Chicken Makani was so incredible and that red sauce was, well, like Butta--a winner and what I am having next time. The Aloo Ghobi, was equally as impressive and dipping my garlic nan into that dish was heaven. Dessert--Leaving without trying the Kulfi would be like stopping 10 feet short of reaching the peak of Everest. Now, if only I can find an apartment in the same building.

Good but not as Authentic
Hard to find location. Once found, it was easy to find seats. The atmosphere is calm and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food quality was decent, but not as exceptional. The tandoori chicken was just red colored with no flavor. The chicken tikka, although delicious was very sweet and overpowered with tomato taste. Being an Indian I know what the dishes are ought to be. Navrattan Korma dish was a disappointment; it was just mix frozen vegetables cooked with some spices - just unlike the actual recipe. Not as authentic of Indian food, but it wasn't bad. I would recommend it for people who cannot eat much spicy food.

Best Indian in NYC
After hearing great things, I decided to go to Indigo on a Friday night for an Indian dinner. We started off with the a-m-a-z-i-n-g prawn that was to die for! Great atmosphere very cozy, classy, romantic. The chicken Tikka Masala is awesome and the lamb korma is so tender it’s unbelievable. The lamb chops are spiced to perfection and melts in your mouth. Owner is part of the service; you can tell that he really loves serving people and the love his place. We had a great time. If you want to try the real flavors of INDIA, this is the place. - must try!

Spicy and Delicious
I ordered from Indigo, despite my misgivings after reading an earlier reviewer who said the food wasn't spicy enough. I am South Asian and love spicy food, and it was perfect. Not just that, but the service was awesome and completely attitude free and the food was delivered quickly. Oh Yeah, I have a favorite Indian in the neighborhood!!!!

The best ever
We have eaten here several times and it gets better with each visit. The staff is attentive, the atmosphere is charming and the food is consistently wonderful. We have taken many friends and clients here to eat and they have always wanted to come back again and again.

Romantic place. Bland food
First the place is lovely, and owner is friendly. I really enjoyed this place until the entree came. We had the little croquets which tasted lovely, and the drink was nice. But the kurma dish i had was very very bland. In fact, I am not sure if they put any spices or salt in it. So I won't come back here again.

Superb food - shame bout the atmosphere
The food at Indigo is absolutely superb. We were served a wonderful starter to wet the palette before we enjoyed our normal sized, not overly spiced or bland starters. The portions were perfect adnt he meat so tender. The food is second to none. However, the atmosphere was a little disappointing in that it was so quiet with two of us in the restaurant, it seemed as tho we were the only two making any conversation. Attentive and friendly service.
