First timer
Went to the Indian Road Cafe for the first time today. I ordered eggs, cheese and red peppers on multigrain toast. The bread was yummy but the eggs too dry on the almost non existent peppers. They don't have table service so we ordered at the counter. Two girls behind the counter were as slow as turtles, very jumpy and almost too nervous to serve people. Place is nice and cozy. Love the decor and the feeling of sitting in a place that looks of another era.... Will go back and hope that the table service is a little bit better.

Back to the 60s
I went to this cafe for the first time recently on a Saturday morning and was delighted to find that it had the same kind of exuberant energy as the Greenwich Village scene of the 60s. How nice for someone of my generation (Depression-era birth) to discover that some of what was so exciting when I was a young man still exists.

Great place, but the food could be better
I love coming here because I do not feel like I'm in NYC. It's great atmosphere, drinks are good and cafe bar is to par. However the food is lacking taste and somewhat disappointing. It's bland and the menu is not very exciting especially for the price that's being offered. So the only thing is missing in this place is good tasty food! Please revamp the food choices. PS. Glad to see they have vegan choices.

Almost Awesome
Food is very good but measly portions. Service could be vastly improved. Every time I go I feel like I'm getting the "bum's rush". They should put some baffles up on the ceiling to quiet the room a bit - not much but could stand to roll off about 15-20 db for those busy times. Also would be nice to put up a PLACE ORDER HERE sign for the barista - several times I have been passed by because someone came along and stood closer to the person behind the counter after I had been there for several minutes. This is a gem of a place - enormously needed in this dreadful community of fake stores and cheap knock-offs. I feel like I'm back in my beloved Marin County when I walk through the doors. Wishing the portions were about 20% larger and the service needs a lot of work. Otherwise my favorite place in Inwood. Moved here a year.5 ago from UES.

Three strikes and I'm done
Been here three times now and was disappointed more with each visit. I'm not going back again. The service is non existent - they just don't "see" you. We had to ask for a waiter, and when he arrived he seemed annoyed and frustrated. He gave us our menus , then we asked if we could order our drinks when he started to walk away. He was not happy to have to take our drink order. He eventually came back for our food order - but we had still not gotten our drinks !!! When we asked for them he was again annoyed or frustrated. When you're out for breakfast - you want your coffee ASAP !! Yes ?? Yes !! The food was not hot, and overall not great, small portions ~~ and the last straw was being charged for a refill on our coffees!! Are you kidding me !! The cups were not even full to the top to start with and we have to pay for a refill. Never heard of such a thing. What a shame- the place has such potential- but I'm not willing to wait for them to figure it out. Service is everything. Less than great food can be accompanied by great service and customers will go away with a good experience, but... excellent food~~ accompanied by poor service is never a good experience . And not soon forgotten. This restaurant needs to provide good service, better food, better portions and cut the ridiculous charge for refills on coffee !!

Delicious food in the middle of nowhere
This is such a great place, and I've even been able to convince friends from as far as Queens to come over for Wednesday trivia night. The lobster mac&cheese is supposed to be their big item, but their sandwiches and wraps are great, and they have a huge variety of wine and beer. Their corner location allows for a much larger restaurant than anything else in the area. Monday night's open mike night is also a good time.

A great addition
This little place is such a treat to have in the neighborhood- it is truly local to those of each that live in this micro neighborhood. On any given night you will run into a few neighbors from your building. The owners and staff have made such an effort to please their customers with the food, entertainment, community involvement. It knows its audience and is working hard to please them. Tasty and inventive dishes with decent portions, good wine and beer list. I always liked the place and it has really improved as they've expanded their capabilities in the kitchen. They are conscientious about their ingredients, and my meals there have been wholesome and healthy.
