We have been semi-frequent diners at Indian Curry Mahal since discovering it a year or so ago - eating there on average once a month, recommending it to friends, etc. The food is always great, and the value is excellent. Unfortunately, the service here is really inconsistent and at times quite rude. We keep giving it another shot, and most recently took some friends for dinner. After being totally ignored at our table for at least 20+ minutes I finally asked if we could place a drink order. The gentleman (manager? owner?) took our drink order (three individual glasses of wine), only to return and say that none of those bottles were "open" and that he only had one type of wine available! We were pretty shocked - we'd had dismissive service there before, but never like this. I felt extremely uncomfortable, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. Only when we stood up to go did he apologize and offer to serve us the wine we originally ordered. I know this sounds ridiculous - I still can't quite believe it myself - but it is absolutely true. Obviously the owners of this restaurant can choose to operate their business however they please - just as I can choose to eat elsewhere. I am extremely disappointed that something like poor service will prevent us from eating at a restaurant we otherwise enjoy - but there are so many restaurants in this city that offer good food and gracious service. Indian Curry Mahal has a lot of fans, and perhaps rightfully so - I just hope no one else has an experience as poor as ours'.

The food was excellent and the delivery was super fast. 10 minutes and the food was at our door incredible.

I've only ordered from this place once but I was impressed with the quality compared to the other 6th St. places, and delivery was pretty fast. The other Indian places in the area tend to be reeeeeeally slow. I will definitely order from this place again the next time I want Indian. The veg. samosa was well-seasoned and not too greasy, the chicken tikka was cooked just right and had a good flavor, and the plain nan was good. The only things I didn't care for were the coriander chutney (which tasted great but definitely had food coloring or something unnatural in it, since it was super-bright green) and the chana chat. To be fair I don't think chana chat travels well - it's a cold dish with yogurt in it and in a delivery bag with hot food it gets gloppy. However, I am used to it being more chunky and this one was more like a dip.

I used to live across the street from here, and I fell in love with it. I always get it to go or delivery. The atmosphere in the restaurant is kinda weird, but the food is amazing and really consistent. It keeps me coming back, even after moving to Brooklyn. Sometimes I get it delivered to my office at the end of the day, to take home for dinner.

Ordered delivery and I have to say the food was really tasty except both the chiken tikka masala and chana masala was VERY OILY (like an inch of oil separated on the top).

This place is always great. The flavors in all the dishes are well balanced, spicy but not too spicy. Plus, with the veggie dishes you can order a half size portion, so if you like a lot of different dishes you can order them without getting too much food. The service is great when dining in, very kind staff and the food is always hot when delivered. I highly recommend this place! It is my new favorite for Indian food.

their food is AMAZING, but some of the people working there are rude to paying customers, i order from them almost once a week, always tip well, and always treat them with respect, and they still treat me poorly! I don't get it!! I suggest they work on their customer service skills, and never change their recipes, cause their food is amazing.
