Excellent!
My husband and I have had the pleasure of eating at Il Tinello on several occasions. The food is excellent and the service is superb. Mario, the owner, is charming and has always treated us as if we were celebrities instead of the occasional visitors and tourists that we are. We highly recommend Il Tinello.

Will never go there again/they don't care
It's difficult to rate the overall service when we knew our waiter from another restaurant....he was the only good thing about this restaurant. We had been there quite sometime ago via a very high client in the area...the owner came around and said hello to every table excluding ours, I thought an insult, we were shoved in the corner, because of "no reservation", it was only 5:15, and when we left the tables up front were still empty...and someone should tell the help that yes, we can speak their language, it's rude when they stand in the back and talk about us for asking for certain items...making disparaging remarks about us!

Bellissimo!
What a great night out as part of our NY Getaway. The Caesar Salad was superb as was the Mixed Greens. My Dover Sole melted in my mouth. The service was perfect (and this is coming from another server) and well worth everything. Yes the decor is a little old, but that's part of the charm! Would definitely go back and have already recommended it!

Not recommended
This retaurant in stuck in 1976, the food the decor and the ancient waiters. The food was marginal at best, and the service was horrible. The waiters are rude and condescending. My wife asked for the Ceasar salad w/out anchovy and they practically laughed at her. There are 100 restaurants in a 5 block radius that are better than this hole. Oh and did mention that it was waaay overpriced, even for NYC.

Great Restaurant
Good to know, that this Restaurant still exists. I used to visit it in 1994 (!!) many times. It was more italian than most of the Ristorantes in Italy. I loved the food, especially Caesar's Salad and the Dorade.

Certainly Expensive
Not in the best area of 56th.... and more of old fashion Italian. Much better places to spend your money. Very inflated wine list, and top dollar for at best average Italian. Stale vegatables... neither meal was noteworthy. Close to Hilton is about only advant - but closer and better places.

wicked good
For many years, whenever in nyc on business or pleasure, always my first choice. Everyone I've ever brought there loves it Best ceasar salad in the world, and as good as any italian restaurant in the world. Food is consistantly excellent. Service is consistantly great, seems like mostly the same staff for years. Atmosphere is old world comfortable. Always looking forward to my next visit. Wicked good!
