Best service in NYC
This restaurant's staff will service you from the moment you walk in the door with the pleasant, warm, old-school style captain to the formal, thorough waiter, to the busboy, they are on their feet the entire time wandering around to serve your every need. They are not intrusive but are right there if you need them, the way it should be. The food was very good, and the atmosphere VERY old-school but romantic. Perfect upscale place for a nice date.

great all around (but overpriced)
Best classic Italian food in New York (better than the famous places), beautiful space, formal but warm service, seriously overpriced.

Overpriced
I found Il Tinello through the web on a recent visit to Manhattan. Over $300 for lunch for 3 when we actually split! The waiter failed to mention that fish special was $38!!! Seriously overpriced. Food was okay, nothing special. VERY dissapointed. A glass of Pinot Grigio for $20? Yikes.

Pompous staff
Went to Il Tinello with my wife and her girlfriend for dinner last Saturday night. The food was delicious, the wine list superb but the service was terrible. The waiter was rude and pompous. We were seated quickly (we had reservations) and a waiter took our drink orders. The head waiter came over and read the specials and then said are you ready to order. We sad no and asked for a few minutes to review the menu. He walked away. He came back in less then 3 minutes and asked if we were ready yet. Once again we said no. He did not leave the table. He stood over us. My wife figured since he was standing there she would ask questions about some of the dishes on the menu, his answers were rude and condescending. The only satisifaction of the night was seeing the look on his face when he saw that I left a larger tip for the captain then I did for him.

excellent
What an excellent meal. A little pricey but one of the best spots in midtown.

II Tinello did not Disappoint
Went to the Il Tinello saturday night with my brother and sister. The food was delicious. The service was top notch. Easily one of the best Italian restaurants ive been to anywhere in the United States. We will surely return.

Best Italian in NYC
Il Tinello is the best Italian restaurant in the city of NY. The service is respectful and attentive, the food is on the mark, and the management the best you can find. Flawless, in a word.
