    First Timer - Loved It!

I went last nite for the first time. I had never heard of the place and just walked in with a friend. I ordered their mussels in marinara and crab cakes - both on the appetizer menu. I havent had GREAT mussels since the 1990s and was a little scared to shell out the $14. But boy was I impressed! Tasty and beautifully cooked! Same for the crab cakes - the best I have ever had I think. The atmosphere is okay; we sat inside because outdoors was unavailable (there was a wait)..but it was nice. Service was pretty good too.

    Washington Height's GEM!

I was very disappointed in the reviews. By far one of the best places I have had the pleasure to dine especially In the heights. A bottle of wine and two entrees for under $60 bucks.

    A confusing place

This restaurant doesn't seem to have a strategy or theme for its cuisine, and simply doesn't work. There's no fusion of Hispanic and Italian, just a hodgepodge. The menu doesn't look interesting, or taste good. It scores points for sidewalk seating but is simply no comparison to the other competent restaurants right down the street. It's too bad because they have a really good location, just lacking a concept.

    disappointed

Was not impressed with this place at all. I understand what its going for, but charging "downtown" prices for "uptown" food is not cool. I ordered the pasta al la carbornara and what was presented to me was what I can best describe as "bacon noodle soup" the pasta was in a soupy sauce, NOT the creamy cheese sauce its supposed to be in, there were 1 in thick slabs of bacon in the soupy mixture which was pretty disgusting. My boyfriend ordered the cheese ravioli that was very bland and under seasoned. The service was very slow, we were seated and instead of being presented with menus and drinks the waiter/hostess went to chit chat at the bar. Il Sole seems to be part of the trend in Inwood for new "upscale" (a term i use loosely) which is great for the neighborhood, but if the food and service is terrible, the atmosphere will never make up for the rest. Il Sole is a big disappointment!

The Best Italian In Washington Heights

Few people had mentioned this place to me, I finally went and I loved it. The place is very cozy, the staff is really nice, the food was fresh, and I had the best MOJITO ever. I would recommend this place.

    This is not italian food

The atmosphere and service is great but the food is subpar. Their bolognese sauce is like jar sauce and the chicken parm is so salty. The food is not worth the price. Maybe I was there onthe chef's day off but boy was I dissappointed.

    love this place

I've been to Il sole a few times and every time it gets better. Service was great the atmosphere was wonderful and the holiday decor makes this place as cozy as possible. I love this place.
