Never again!
A really disappointing dining experience. Last night my husband and I decided to go to Hell's Kitchen and try an Italian restaurant, so Il Punto was the chosen one. We ordered one salad to share, one bottle of mineral water and two plates of seafood ravioli (a meager portion, to be totally honest) with a green sauce too thick for our taste. BTW, the waitress was harassing us constantly while we were in the process of ingesting our food. We ended up paying almost 100 bucks, which is really pricey in terms of quality and quantity. Needless to say, we wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone

Onions but no octopus
Ordered the octopus appetizer and got a big plate of lettuce with some onions underneath and a few stringy pieces of fish. When I complained they brought out a plate of fresh octopus and explained that the chef was out in the dining room and the assistant did not know how to prepare the dish. Did they think we wouldn't notice?

Surly Service
The waitress did not seem at all glad to see us -- the place was nearly empty at six p.m. on a Saturday, and her disappointment at the people who weren't there seemed to be directed at those who were. We had to ask for the pre-theater menu; only then did she reluctantly provide it. Fried squid was very average and a bit greasy. Pasta with guanciale was good. Other dishes were so-so.

great find
fell into this restaurant while staying in nyc for a javits show..was the closest to the hotel and it was a cold night. We fell in with no reservations (weekday) and were seated and served with great attention. Waitress was terrific, food was great, served perfectly, plenty to eat, was a great find, will definately return on next theatre visit.

Poor service, overpriced
Food was just mediocre and staff was rude. Poor experience overall, went in with high expectations, ended up very disappointed after spending way too much.

loved this restaurant
The thing I liked best about this place is it had completely unique offerings -- makes "lets do italian" a whole new experience. It's location is a little off the beaten path - right near the entry to the lincoln tunnel - but if you're looking for a great italian restaurant that's not all the way in Little Italy, this place is the real deal! I had the Melanzane Sott'olio - sliced so thin you could see thru it, got the signature dish for the table- Pappardelle Della Selva Nera - very good just be prepared it's a sweet pata, and then had the bass - fantastic all around. My suggestion is go with a large group so you can share everything to take advantage of all of the choices!
