    Heavily overpriced

This is a quite strange place, called an Italian restaurant, with no Italian service staff at all (the head waiter is from Norway). The waiters are very good sales people, always recommending the most expensive items, primarely verbally with no price indication. At the end you have a bill, which is by far too high for what is offered. This place canĀ“t be recommended.

One of the best ever anywhere

Man is this place expensive! But we love it every time we come here. It is an experience to dine at Il Postino. It's a one of a kind place and the food is over the top. The wait staff is incredible too. Save your money and come here, you won't regret it!

    Very good food and service

Excellent pasta, appetizers and desert. Veal ravioli with mushroom, lamb rack and pasta with truffles were delicious. Chocolate souffle and cheesecakes were also very well made. Service was very attentive and lovely large flower arrangements at entrance.

    Looking forward to going back!

Each time I've eaten here I leave full and happy! Plus, there's something so unique and fun about the way they put the finishing touches on in the dining room, filling the space with the aroma of what's to come. Now with the weather being so agreeable it's even more enticing because the whole front opens up!

    Great experience!

My boyfriend and I have eaten here a few times and always have had a great food and service. It's romantic with a classic style that many restaurants have lost over the years. The place is a NYC staple and, yes, on the expensive side, but it is Midtown East after all and more importantly well worth it. Our servers have always been accommodating in answering our price questions when we inquired.

    Prices are insane!

This place is way overpriced. We've dined there before and thought it was very expensive. However, we thought it was worth it for special occasions. We went on NYE this year and the prices blew our mind. Appetizers were $20+, pasta dishes for $45-$55, meat/fish entrees $55-75+, etc. We actually laughed. These were the most expensive regular entrees I've seen in NYC. The food was good but my piece of fish wasn't worth $65! They price this place as if it was the best Italian restaurant in the city. It's not. Plenty of good Italian places even in the same neighborhood for less money and just as good quality. We won't be going back.

    Not worth the price

All of the dishes had way to much salt. I could not even finish my Veal. Price was much to high for the quality of the food. Every item I had was overly spiced. My pasta was too salty, My veal was extreamly salty. and My appitiser had much too much vinger. It was a shame if the food was not overly spiced it would have been excelent. Everything was just too strong.
