Bad un-enthusiastic service
We were called in my the guy standing outside the restaurant and the environment was nice enough inside. However everything else went downhill. The waiter was almost rude and un-enthusiastic as if he was doing us a favor and on top of that included the gratuity in the bill itself so we had no way to express our opinion about their service. Definitely a no visit if you are looking for a upbeat place to eat.

Better than a bus tour!
We chose Il Palazzo after receiving a business card from Pellegrinos, showing they were sister restaurants. We looked forward to the gnocci's and other food for weeks. The potato gnocci's were very 'melt-away' and enjoyable. The ravioli with cheese filling was just 'okay'. The veal marsala was excellent. Lots of bread and water, but the server had too many tables to be terrific. Three different glasses of wine; all excellent! Would love to go again. Two couples split the $160 tab...

One of the best in Little Italy
I have tried a few of the restaurants in Little Italy and must say, this one has the best tasting food so far. The gnocchi's almost melt in your mouth. When they make it, I like to have the zabaglione for dessert, not an easy dessert to find.

What a great surprise!
We picked this place at random with no knowledge of the restaurant, thinking it was just another checkered table cloth Italian place. What a pleasant surprise! Food and service far exceeded our expectations. Starting with an excellent selection of bread, we went on to Caesar salads and pasta with lobster, shrimp, clams, and scallops in a tomato-based vodka cream sauce - all delicious. Service was first rate, with wait staff replacing our plate for shells every couple minutes. Entree was on the expensive side, but who can complain when it included a vast quantity of shellfish? I will definitely return when I want a well-prepared meal in Little Italy.

fun on Mulberry St.
Went on Sat. night without a reservation at about 8PM. We had to wait only 15 min. and were seated. A nice bottle of wine and garlic bread to start. Appetizers were the seafood salad and a half order of pasta. Both were huge portions and good. Main courses were the grilled salmon (not typical since it had a pesto oil and cream sauce on it) over veggies and also the veal. Both were devoured. A glass of Sambuca to finish off the meal and we agreed it was a very nice night in Little Italy.

Not recommended
After reading reviews on the internet I decided to make a reservation here. I adore Little Italy and I have never had a bad dining experience there and I have lived in New York for most of my life. I ordered the potato gnachi with red sauce and my friend had pasta with red sauce, eggplant, and a strange looking white chewy and lumpy cheese on top (I believe the menu said ricotta but, this was certainly not ricotta!) The one perk of dinner that kept us rom having hunger pains was the delicious bread and flavored dipping olive oil We were incredibly disappointed overall and quickly had our pastas packed up and gave them to a homeless person. There was one waiter for over 10 tables to boot and we did not get any personal attention. Funny, the host was telling some people waiting for a table when we came in that this is the highest rated restaurant in Little Italy. The food was barely edible!

Counting the Days to Il Palazzo
My mother recommended, well insisted, I go to Il Palazzo when I was in NYC. She goes once every month on business and always dines there. After my first visit I was hooked! As was everyone I was with. When I plan a trip to NYC it's a given that is where we go and people ask me if they can "tag along" because of the "word of mouth" reputation Il Palazzo has gotten (even back in PA). I have always been treated as if I (we) were the only people in the restaurant. The food is beyond delicious and very reasonably priced. I've since begun taking my children (who tend to be picky eaters) and they ask "when are we going back?" I'm taking my daughter and several friends next weekend and can't wait to sink my teeth into one of the many delectable meals they offer. When you are in the area - you MUST visit Il Palazzo. You won't be disappointed!!
