Visit and visit often!
Fantastic food, fresh pastas, attentive waitstaff. So much better than most of the mediocre/overpriced places in Hell's Kitchen.

Came twice for dinner during a 3-night stay
My family and I came to Il Melograno on the first night of our stay in the city, and enjoyed it so much we came back another time. The meals tasted, and looked, amazing! We each had pastas (I had the gnocchi and a seafood special) and loved them. The flavors were fresh and we didn't grow tired of our dishes (as can sometimes happen with pasta). Much of the pasta itself is homemade, which helped. We began with the special salad both nights and we were thoroughly impressed each time. The friendly server told us the chef put a lot of thought into the specials, and it turned out to be true. The salads were colorful, light, and delicious. I tried the tiramisu but wasn't thrilled by it. I like tiramisu with lots of flavor and this one was very mild. It was pretty though - they had drizzled a strawberry sauce on the plate. I have never encountered such excellent value at an Italian restaurant and wish I had a Il Melograno back home! It was a wonderful experience.

What a pleasant surprise
I stumbled upoon this wonderful place when looking for something - anything! - to eat before a performance at Ars Nova down the street. Little did I know I'd be enjoying one of the best meals I've eaten anywhere! The majority of the extensive menu is made from scratch. I had the tagliatella with safron sauce and shrimps. Homemade pasta with a cream sauce specked with tons of safron and topped by a mound of fresh arugala and surrounded by half a dozen nice sized, perfectly cooked shrimp. I also enjoyed a glass of both of the special wines they were offering that day. Both were good, but the white - Greco di Tufo from Campagna - was the perfect match for the pasta. I'm a frequent visitor to NYC and was excited to tell my friends who live there about how great this little gem was. My server, who had only recently arrived from Italy, was also very good and helpful with menu and wine suggestions. I'll certainly return on my next stop to the city.

Great Little Italian Place
We came here based on other peoples reviews. I have to say that I'm glad we went. The food was very good. The Fresh Tagliatelle was tasty and not over bearingly heavy for a creme dish. The rissoto with lobster and leeks was a wonderful balance of seafood, pasta, and leeks. We also had a starter that was superb, it was a muscle dish that was cooked to perfection (not well done and rubbery). Over all thumbs up! Keep up the good work.

Great dining experience!
What a delightful time we had at Il Melograno last evening. The food was delicious - particularly the ravioli - and the spaghetti was more than I could eat. Our party of 6 stayed over two hours but never felt rushed to leave. Service was excellent. We will definitely eat here again on return trips to NYC.

If it were just a little prettier and more comfortable
Excellent food, amazing value (2 iced teas, a beer, 3 entrees, 1 dessert - $60 plus tip). The server was very sweet, but got the order wrong. The incorrect food was also somthing we were interested in having, so we just kept it. Service was very fast - fresh pasta takes no time to cook. The seats are very hard so don't expect to hang out for a long meal. They do tak out, so we may just opt to get the food to go and eat in the comfort of our own home. Regardless, I'll be getting food from them again.

Great find
My wife and I had tickets for a concert at Radio City and were looking for an Italian Restaurant that was nearby. We discovered Il Melograno on the Menu Pages and decided to give it a try. We called ahead to see if we could bring our own bottle of wine, and were happy to be told we could. The restaurant is at a great location on the corner of 10th and 51st. Our waiter, from Italy, was knowledgable of the food and paired our dinner around our bottle of Barolo. The apetisers and our meals were terrific. The prices were also unheard of for NYC. Great value, great location, great food and friendly service. We are looking forward to going back next time we're in the city.
