I went to the Il Mattone the other day for dinner. It is the same experence every time. Good food and service is always there. I love all the pasta dishes, especially the vodka sauce. There pizza is superb. I have been eating it for 13 years now. I actually ordered 40 pies for my company last week to feed a trading floor. They love it. A landmark restaurant in Tribeca!

Try the cheese pizza. It is the best around. I literally have cravings for it!

Not the best meal
The restaurant is nice and quaint. They certainly didn't rush us out the door...we took our time with our meal. But overall we were not impressed. Most of the pastas we ordered were extremely salty. They also forgot to bring out of one of our entrees (there were 6 of us). They did comp us coffees for the missing entree. After all that, I might give it another try if its just two of us. I wouldn't rely on it to bring a group or anyone you are trying to impress.

chicken parm stay away, penne vodka great
well i just had the chicken parm...the cheese on top is good, the sauce was good, the chicken (once you cut into it) was brown looking...dry...not good at all...the meat wasn't nice and white...it was like eating from a subpar chinese restaurant... other items might be very good though

First Class Service, First Class Food
I hosted a party of 20 people here for my birthday in August; the management was very accomodating in everything I wanted to do. They helped me set up a fantastic pre-fixe at a reasonable price, brought out tons of appetizers...so much that we were almost stuffed to capacity before the main course! Everyone made room, rest assured. On top of that, the service was absolutely perfect. Besides bringing everything out in a timely fashion and keep the wine glasses filled, one of the waitstaff ran out and bought me a pack of batteries for my camera (which was certainly above and beyond the call of duty). I am in the midst of planning a group meal for my company and this will certainly be the first place on my list for groups...or first dates! <smile>

best in Tribeca / bpc
This is our favorite delivery pizza in the area. In terms of taste only beaten by Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. All the basics are right, great tasing pie's, fresh ingredients, great selection. On the downside the delivery can be a bit slow [at least an hour but this is fine if you know ahead of time], and they aren't open on Sunday's [Sunday used to be pizza night but we like their pizza's so much it now varies rather than going elsewhere]. If you live in Tribeca / BPC definitely give them a try.
