    Several visits but...Will never return

I am Soho local for over 10 years and have eaten at Il Corallo several times as I enjoy pasta and they have their own unique creations (perhaps too many). However, their average but reasonable fare has slowly degraded over the years. Their many sauces are now extremely over salted, it seems like a health hazard. On one occasion I found sand in my salad, and something slimey on another. What has ended my patronage is their service. Our family has tolerated rules like not allowing our child a half order or not bringing our child's meal during the adult's salad course. We've persevered a 5 minute wait that expanded to 30 on one occasion and rudeness from both the wait staff and hostess on several. It was one night we decided to order delivery, they took our order and after waiting an hour we called only to be informed that they were too busy to deliver and without any apology asked if we would like to re-make the order and we could pick it up in 45 minutes - I told them to go to hell...we will never return. Our family has given this place too much consideration in our effort to support local establishments. This restaurant does not deserve anybody's business.

    No, no, no, no, no.

That may as well be the name of this place. "No, you can't sit down even though your friends are a few blocks away." "No, you can't order your appetizers first and your main course later." "No, you can't request that the appetizers at least come to the table first." "No, you can't have extra plates to share a dessert." No extra plates! Are you kidding me? The bottom line is that there are a ton of restaurants in NYC, and in SoHo in particular, that offer great Italian food.

Best Pasta, Hit or Miss Service

First the bad news... I've been here several times and have to agree/disagree with the reviews. The service is hit or miss. Lunch, the service generally seems outstandingly warm. Late dinner or Thu-Sat dinner and good luck. Have tried only one meat dish in my time here, the $30-steak, totally a waste of money, an overcooked rubbery thing is how they prepare it here, I know for sure, because the other person I was with ordered the same steak and it came out exactly horribly the same. ...Now the good news... The pasta is among the best I've had in New York, possibly anywhere I've been outside of Italy itself. Absolutely delicious pasta, but in the weight-conscious neighborhood of Soho, you'd probably never hear too many people even attempting carb levels like these, but rest assured definitely make an exception for this place! Just like Rome. If you like pasta with real vegetables, real Italian cheeses, perfectly al-dente, rich creamy sauces, that fills you up but doesn't send a sugar-rush to your head (hence the al-dente) this is a winner hands down! Also the takeout pasta somehow remains delicious in those containers they put it in. Delicioso!

    Avoid at all costs!

Avoid this restaurant at all costs! The food is average and the service is shocking. I have never met an owner more rude than the woman that "runs" this place. We decided to get pasta to go and on asking for water she bluntly & rudely told us to go wait outside and that she would not give us any water. Water for goodness sake! We tried to cancel our oder and were told we could not. We told her we would never go back and she said she didnt care.

    Great little place

I can always count on this place when I'm anywhere in the Soho area, all the pastas are delicious, and the service is speedy and courteous. And of course the value is incredible.

    Could be better

My brother and I dine in and out often and we love italian. Considering we live primarily in a shopping district, it is tough to find good italian restaurants. It's fortuitous that we live kitty corner from this restaurant. With that said, we mostly have our food delivered as the service is so marginal. They perpetually forget the bread/balsamic vinegar/olive oil, water, or a particular request. Bottom line, the food is great for the price, but service is less than desirable.

    Great Food

Been here a gazillion times. The food is great, no doubt, but if you're expecting great ambiance and grade A service, go find some place else. If you're the order-eat-leave type, then this place is perfecto.
