worst hostess ever.
bottom line. food is amazing! hostess is atrocious! 1st time, she seemed annoyed that our entire party was not there, then proceeded to use sarcasm to escort us back out. 2nd time, while i waited for my friend to come out of the bathroom, she rushed us out of our table, grabbed our belongings, and unceremoniously dumped them on the bar, saying she needed to make room for other customers. 3rd time, she made us wait by the bathroom while she seated everyone that came in after us, after 30 mins of waiting we walked out. it's a shame because the food is amazing and the servers are great. i later found out that the hostess is the owner, which is even more disappointing. needless to say we will not be going back.

damn good food, unbeatable prices
Every reviewer bitching about the rules sounds like an entitled, broke ass NYU student. It is not so unheard of to only seat complete parties. I darersay its a common practice. The no second glass of wine thing is a bit much, but as another said they rely on high turnover to keep their prices low. Which brings me to value. This place has the best italian in the city *for the price*. I grew up in an Italian family. This is good stuff. And for the price it can;t be beat. Stop whining.

Best deal in SoHo!
I have been a loyal customer since they opened. The hostess everyone complains about is actually the owner. Yes! She wont' seat you until your party is all there so deal with it. It's not that big of a deal for great fresh pasta at gentle prices. SoHo is over hyped & priced as it is so enjoy the food and reasonable wine list. In uncertain financial times this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a comforting meal. The Tiramisu is exceptionl. For all the haters this place is still in buisness while thousands have since folded. So guess what? They have a simple but successful formula. You don't like it pay triple the $$$ elsewhere.....more room for me and those that appreciate a good basic trattoria!

Wise up people, they are a front.
I called to confirm they do not serve 2 glasses of wine. I could not believe it. Wise up people, they are a front. They really don't want you there.

awesome italian food
as a college student aka poor, i think this place is great! the food is cooked well and the prices are cheap. sure, you have to ask for the bread and oil but they stick a pitcher of ice water on the table and serve you your food and for the most part leave you alone. people who say they have bad service need to relax. italian places just leave you be and thats exactly what happens. also, the waiters dont mind if you flag them down and maybe not full of smiles but they do what is asked. food is always hot and fresh and you dont have to tip much because they do not hover over you.

Actually, a REALISTIC Review
For the "realistic" reviewer, let me actually provide a non-biased review for those thinking of eating here. I work around the corner and my co-workers and I have frequented the place and more often than not during lunch hours you can hear pins drop and they still won't allow you to sit unless your whole party is there. Please do not use the excuse of high turn over, be realistic. Also, unless you order a bottle of wine they will not "allow" grown adults to consume a second glass of wine. The owners need to get with the times, they claim they have provided this service successfully for over 15 years but in this day & age it is grossly unacceptbale and has cost them many patrons who used to frequent it. Get over yourselevs, the food is decent take-out at best so get off the high horse.

A realistic reviewer
Look, this is a small resturant that needs to have a high table turnover in order to keep their prices low. So if you love great pasta for an very low price for this neighboorhood then this is the place for you. If you are upset that the hostess wont seat you because you are missing someone or that you can't order a second glass of wine with dinner, then take your money elsewhere and spend twice as much money on the same meal down the block. I don't understand how so many people are upset that they were showed the door when they wanted to linger.
