Il Corallo Trattoria

This is the first time I have encountered a hostess (and owner!) whose negative attitude and poor service affected our evening out. We were a group of six on a Tuesday evening. One person in our group came just 10 minutes late while we were eating appetizers. He was then told that he wouldn't be allowed to order dinner! We were surrounded by empty tables. It made us all feel very uncomfortable and my friend remained hungry. With so many wonderful restaurants all over the City, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I've been going to this place for years...but the owner has gotten nastier as the years have gone by. She is incredibly rude & condescending and has no concept of delivering good service. She refused to seat a party of 7 because we were still waiting for 2 people, even though we told her we would order for the others. We waited for an hour and told her we were big party and she told us she "wouldn't even think about us until we were all there." She doesn't not know how to treat people nicely and acts like she doesn't need you because she has plenty of others coming to her restaurant. Such a shame because the food is good. Not worth the attitude.

The owner decided not to serve me since I was 15 minutes late, I was delayed at work. She was rude, completely inflexible, and unwavering. Poor example of reasonable customer service. I sat with my friends not able to eat a thing. It was difficult to even get a glass of wine. I will never return to this restaurant again, there are many great restaurants in NYC, but this is absolutely not one of them.

We've been eating at Il Corallo for many years, but have seen it go downhill. The food is good, but the restaurant has become an unpleasant tourist trap, with poor service and incredibly rude treatment. Diners are rushed to make room for more people and a full dinner is over in about 40 minutes (including wine and appetizer). There is a distinct lack of graciousness, replaced by an attitude of impatience. For example, I was not given a table setting, and when I asked for one, it was as if I were inconveniencing the waiter. Only one choice for wine by the glass and it's mediocre.

I have been to this restaurant many times and am always well pleased. I am surprised to see reports that the hostess is rude; I have always found her to be very gracious, and I think that must be tiring when she's running a crowded place on a Saturday night. The specialty is the many pasta dishes, and I have enjoyed many of them. It's also cheap! a great value for the money. Surely it's a bit cramped, but space is very expensive in SOHO, and the staff have always been good about it. Go there.

I think i read a lot of reviews about how the service sucks and such, but honestly, i went today and the service was fine! it wasn't bad, the staff was nice and attentive, a bit on the rushing side, but he was nice! the food... good lord. it is amazing! loved their pasta dishes and their pizza dishes. the price is around 10 bucks for each, but it is definitely filling! would go back again. in terms of environment, yes it is small and cramped. but it has a cozy sort of feel and i would recommend the atmosphere good for dates, or such. thumbs up1 def go back again!

this place has the most obnoxious staff in the world. The food is decent but everything else is so not what a New York restauraunt should be.
