    great SoHo spot

This is one of my favorite Italian spots in the city, which is actually affordable especially considering the neighborhood. It gets crowded, especially on the weekends and if your party is large but its a great date spot. They have an amazing selection of pastas and I have never been let down. The same hostess has been there for years and has always been a friendly face.

    Great food - good value

I live uptown, but everytime I make a trip downtown I eat here! It's a quiant little Italian restaurant with great food, friendly waiters, and windows that open up to the street for people watching. It's very inexpensive, but the food is mouthwatering! I recommend the stuffed pesto tortellini! Great place for inexpensive relaxed dining.

    Pasta is exceptional

Don't believe all the bad reviews. If you like pasta, look nowhere else. "Fresh" pasta really makes a difference. So many options. One of the few places that actually make you al dente pasta when you specify "al dente." Seating is cramped but there is a lot of seating.

    Poor Service with Average Food

My friends and I picked this place for a nice post holiday dinner. We were originally a party of 4 but a friend decided to join us a little late making our group a total of 5. We just finished ordering our food and the hostess would not our extra guest order food. She was only allowed to "sit" with us which was absolutely absurd. Pasta was served al dente. Not worth the time or money.

    crazy rule

6 of us went to this restaurant for the lunch special thinking it was a good value. When we were seated and told the host one more person is on their way, the host would not allow us to remain seated and asked us to get up and wait by the door until that person showed up. Although it would only be a few minutes since she was just a few blocks away, they said if we were seated and another person showed up she would not be allowed to join us. The restaurant only had 2 other people there! I've read other reviews with the same problems. It is a crazy rule and completely rude. We all left without ordering and will never go back. I don't care how cheap and good the food is. Bad service doesn't deserve our patronage.

    Since 1998

I have been eating at Il Corallo for over nine years and it is still my favorite restaurant. The staff is great and the high quality of food is unchanging. I love it here.

    Not recommended

I used to go here all of the time. The food is decent and so are the prices however, the service is poor. After coming here for 5 years, 5 of us were seated at a table for 6 at 9:30 pm on a Wednesday night. Another friend was joining us and was running a few minutes late. The waiter would not let me order for her. Moreover, even though she came 5 minutes after we placed our order, the waiter and the hostess would not allow her to place an order. They said they only seated and feed complete parties. Riddiculous considering we were sitting at a table for 6 (and now had 6 people). We asked if she could be a party of 1, and order and sit next to us, this was "fine" however, she was not allowed to sit in the empty table next to us and was told she needed to go sit by herself in the other room. We all shared our food with the 6 so that she would not starve, unbelievable that this happened.
