    food overpowers the hostess

yes, the hostess is a bit strict! (i think she may also be the owner). and yes there are many rules - no outside drinks for one - my friend had his beverage confiscated and returned after the meal! but the food is so good and so well priced. and the wait staff is always nice and consistent. i love it. going to order the shitake panini for lunch today. so good...

    The Pasta Nazi?

With all the bad reviews of Il Corallo's service policies, you might call this place "the pasta nazi." When you eat here, you really have to pay attention to the rules and follow them, or eat somewhere else. If you're prepared to have everyone in your party show up at once, wait for your table patiently and considerately of others, and treat everyone with some respect, Il Corallo's menu is really worth exploring. I've never seen such a selection of pasta! And it's all good, in my opinion, although not every dish is for everybody. But that's the beauty of variety. The sauces can sometimes be a bit on the salty side, so don't forget to drink some water well before you start eating.

    never written on this site...

but I was so upset by the poor service, I wanted to write it down. I work in a busy restaurant and understand the difficulty with seating incomplete tables, but this place takes it to an EXTREME. When the restaurant is half empty and I want to eat something while waiting for my boyfriend, denying me that is simply disrespectful and loses the restaurant money. They also have a rule that you must order everything at the same time. I don't get itI wanted to cry out of frustration for how the hostess treated me. Service is only a factor, but the poor service here is enough to ruin a meal and a good few hours.

    Great Place

This is a great little place. The food was awesome and the service was excellent. Very reasonably priced as well. Would highly recommend.

    Downright Delicious

Okay so let me start by saying that I absolutely love ordering from this restaurant. They take your order and within 20 minutes you have HOT and YUMMY pasta. The lunch specials are CRAZY CHEAP. For 10 bux I get a soup or salad and a choice of any pasta dish. My favorite is Tortellini Parmigiano. The black ravioli from their dinner menu is SICK! A must try for those that love CHEAP EATS and DOWNRIGHT FRESH PASTA....ENJOY!

    Poor experience

Let me just start by saying that I never like to complain, and have never used any website to complain about anything. But the experience I have had at this restaurant made me an account here just to tell everyone how horrible that place is! I have been there three times before (by coincidence each time really because the food isn’t anywhere near great to make me go back a few times to eat there). Each time I was there, the hostess/manager seemed to have an argument with some guests, and they would end up leaving very angry. Finally it was my time to learn the truth about this place. I arrived a bit late one night and my friends were already sitting down and their food was just arriving to the table. When I asked for the menu right then it was refused to me since the place "does not serve late parties." The waiter just walked away. My friends then decided to order something more for themselves so I could nibble on it as well, and the menu this time was refused to them as well, the waiter saying angrily that they cannot order because they would end up giving the food to me (pointing his fingers at me), and that if I want to eat I can be seated at another table because they won’t serve late parties. Mind you, the restaurant was half empty so it wasn’t as if they were worried about us staying there late and keeping the table busy with me ordering late. This time we asked for the manager, the server said angrily that she will come out. She did not. We asked again, again we were told the manager would come out but she never did. At the end the desert was refused to us as well and we finally got up and went to the manager, who with a smile on her face said that the there is a sign saying the restaurant does not serve late parties and if we didn’t like that, then perhaps we should have gone someplace else. And she walked away. We could not believe our ears. I have never been that disrespected in any restaurant in NYC or in the world.

    Fast Good & Hot

We order lunch to be delivered a lot. This pasta was better than any in the area that we had delivered , the portions were large and the pasta hot and the price reasonable. What more do you want in SOHO. Can't comment on the atmospher but the delivery service was fast.
