Like lunching in a small Italian town

Our lunch at Il Buco lasted 4 hours, and every moment was pleasant. The food was unbelievably good: our shared roasted artichoke and roasted octopus were delicious; my (huge) porchetta panino with arugula and salsa verde was close to perfect, and included more cracklings than usual in this type of sandwich (an undeniable plus). Our waiter was excellent too: a young Italian guy who was quite knowledgeable about food and wine offerings and also apparently well-acquainted with how to ply his trade: there when you needed him, absent when you didn't. The place is nothing to speak of, decor-wise, but the fact that the hours passed without our noticing is a tribute to how innately comfortable it is. The friend I was with noted that he had had an equally good dinner there last week. Highly recommended.

    Reminds me of Eataly

Pleasant atmosphere and decor, excellent food, modest portions, limited menu, no specials, not for vegans, can be loud, staff ranged from brusque to welcoming.

    Amazing rustic Italian

Had an amazing meal last night. The salumi is made in-house and was amazing. The fried rabbit was delicious. The porchetta was mind-blowing. Can't say enough good things about the food. The service was great too but had a little difficulty getting clear info about some of the dishes because our server was Italian and english was clearly his second language....the price we pay for authenticity. Any additional questions were answered by the manager who was warm and gracious. The atmosphere was great if you're ok with communal tables and loud volume. The cranky older couple next to us seemed to not like the energy and vowed to leave a poor menupages review for the food and service even before their food arrived! Make sure to try the spaghetti with Bottarga, it was one of the best we've had outside of Sardegna.
