The treatment by the front of house staff and manager here is quite poor. We were first seated in an unlit, cold area in the back of the restaurant - and asked to move tables. Upon asking for a new table, we were told there would be a 40 minute wait. We waited......to find the hostess seat a party before us (without a reservation). The party walked in, she asked if they had a reservation - they said "No." She then sat them. When I approached her, she said they were 'regulars'. I asked another staff member for the manager, explaining what had happened. The manager came over immediately, apologized and said he knew what had happened. He freely said, "I will take care of your ticket." The food came. I have eaten here before - when the food was not bad. Perhaps it was this experience, but the food was not good at all. Needless to say, the check came and nothing was taken care of. We walked out to the hostess, head down and "busy at work" at the front computer. No "thank you", "come again".....nothing. The treatment of a repeat customer does not make me want to eat here again - nor can I continue to recommend the venue.

I adore this restaurant. This has become my "go to" restaurant this past year. it's one of those places that I feel comfortable bringing anyone to have a great meal in a beautiful place without it being pretentious. It's perfect for a date, for groups, for families, we've done birthday parties, new year's here... really spectacular. The food is consistently delicious and always exceeds my expectations. The service and staff are wonderful and helpful. The drinks are kickin' and the bar tenders are great. I've even met the owner a few times and he's delightful! I'll be going back here again and again!

I have been to Il Bastardo several times and have had decent experiences there before. Today, however, ruined it for me completely. Not only was the service horrendous, the staff seemed to care less when I made a point of mentioning it to them. After having to wait for a glance from a staff member for ten minutes, I finally suggested to a waiter that he ask the bartender to come give us some attention considering there were just two others at the bar and she was more interested in talking to a coworker at the other end of the bar. Service became spotty but manageable until a friend of the staff walked in with her two dogs (isnt that illegal?) and they all went to play with the dogs inside the restaurant. I asked them if they were more concerned with getting our check or if they would like a repeat customer. This was greeted with a chuckle by the host, bartender and another staffer. Considering how many staff was actually there, you would have thought customer service was a concern. I can honestly say, I believe they could care less. The food was good, but the experience was absolutely horrific and i will never step foot in there again. Considering the lack of good restaurants in the neighborhood, it is an absolute shame.

We live around the corner and eat here religiously. The dishes are always consistent, weather ordering out or dining in the restaurant. The service is always prompt and friendly. I recommend this place to friends who are looking for a nice, yet casual place to have dinner where the food isn't over-priced and the service is great.

I recently had my birthday here. There were 8 of us. The food was delicious, fast and the waiter/hosts were all very nice. It was no problem that one friend had to join us later and ordered late as well. The price wasn't too bad and they even spelled Happy Birthday on my tiramisu! Oh, check out the bathroom! It's cool. And I'd definately recommend this place for big groups.

Reservation seated on time but had very hard time reading the menu in the back room because of lighting. 2 in our party were rushed for time so it was annoying when waiter did not come to take order for 20 minutes. He did however get their meals out quickly. Nice size portions, ok presentation, but I needed to generously salt my tuna appetizer and "priest stranglers" dish. and waiter did not return to offer grated cheese on pasta dishes. Orichette too chewy. We had to ask for coffee and dessert. Waiter seemed inexperienced. Since I only visit city every couple of years, this forgettable experience will not guide me back.

I was walking by Il Bastardo one night and I liked the look of the place so I decided to have my birthday dinner there, and I walked in and made a reservation. The girl at the desk was helpful and I appreciated the fact that they let me make a reservation for a large group and didn't require me to leave credit card information. I absolutely hate when places make you leave credit card info, and some places make you do that for parties of 5 and more, and I had way over 5 people. The night of my dinner I got there and they already had the table set up and we were seated right away in the back, which I liked, because we were out of the way and could have a good time in a semi-private setting. The waiter was wonderful and attentive. He took our drink orders right away, he always came around to see if we needed anything else. And you know what, the food was just fine. Everyone at my table got something different and everyone's dish was delicious. And you cannot beat those prices. If anyone is looking to have a dinner for 10+ I definitely recommend Il Bastardo.
