Menu prices not the same
Just had dinner here last night and the food was pretty good. We had the grilled calamari and potato and mushrooms for appetizers. Both good and also had the seafood taglioni which was very tasty.

Very sneaky and disappointing place
I'd been looking forward to coming here for a while because it looked so cute inside, but I completely regret going! As soon as my friend and I walked in (granted, it was a Friday night, but we had reservations), we got herded to the extremely crowded downstairs bar so we could spend money on drinks while they 'waited' for available tables. I think the policy there is to make sure everyone waits at least 20 min so they have ample time to drink at the bar first. Once we finally got seated (30 min after our reservation), it took forever before the waitress came by. I can handle slow service on busy nights, but the food wasn't even worth the wait! My friend and I each got one of the specials. The food was simply 'okay'. The worst of it was when we got our bill and realized those dishes were at least $10 more than their regular menu items!! $30 for two overly garlic-ed dishes was so not worth it! The staff has NO intention of telling you that the specials are completely overpriced compared to their other regular dishes. The special APPETIZER we got was almost $20 and that's what the menu says their MAIN DISHER are. Sorry Il Bagatto...your value and service sucks!!

Yum! But bring your own parmesean.
Incredible grilled calamari. Great food and very cozt setting. There are, however, many rules around who can and cannot have cheese on their meal. Seriously, they denied the guy next to us. I will be back but I may smuggle some grated cheese in my purse.

Very good food
They have the best grilled calamari in town! The food is always good and the service very attentive, but what's up with the bartenders downstairs. I would recommend you wait at your table to avoid miss attitude downstairs.

Sometimes this place misses the mark
we have been here several times over the years... while when good, its great... sometimes they just miss the mark. service was slow and the food portions were generous, but left something to be desired on the pallate. specials was good, but skip the traditional dishes.

best italian...
is probably found elsewhere, not all too far away. but definitely not at this place. food was mediocre at best, chicken was dry and pasta all undercooked. hot bartender though...

Believe it! Place is not good!
okay. so I took a chance on this place w/o reading reviews from menu pages prior! doh... went this past Saturday night. had a 7:45 reservation. we showed up a few minutes late but were quickly seated in a nice cozy corner in the basement (all was good). The waiter came over and told us the specials (which sounded nice). We had drinks from the bar so we were fine. The waiter came back to take our order and at this time we ordered a bottle of red wine and some beers (my beer was already empty now for 5 minutes). After 15 minutes still no wine and no beer. I was starting to get annoyed. The waiter was nowhere to be found. After the appetizers came, the wine showed up and my beer came and was the wrong beer. The bar was literally 15 feet from my seat. I should have gotten up and got my own beer. okay so my arugula salad tasted good but had some old mushy mushy tomatoes that were unedible. I ordered some Cannelini beans. Not good. Seemed like they came out of a can. Came with nothing, but a small dish of beans. We just left them there and they didn't inquire if anything was wrong as they took them away. Next my spaghetti came. This was the first item on the menu and I figured okay how can you go wrong with such a simple dish... well really it was just what it was. plain simple sauce and slightly undercooked pasta. with a sprig of basil. I guess that is why they said spaghetti w/ basil... and to boot they have one dish on the menu where they do not allow you to have parmesan cheese. Well I don't think they want you to have parm cheese on anything b/c it was nearly impossible to get any. after about 10 minutes I asked the waiter who had forgotten... so finally I told the manager on the way out that the food was lackluster and the wait staff needed work... he gave me some bs answer saying yeah he had the tomatoes earlier that day and they were great. lol. So there it is. Skip this place and you will not be sadly disappointed. oh yeah and $220 for 4 people for East Village italian that is lackluster... maybe go here for drinks but skip the meal.
